CouchSurfing

Mission

Rev the Engine

Wow! There's a lot to this mission of creating Inspiring Experiences. Let's take one last look under the hood to recap how the whole machinery works:

  • Creating Inspiring Experiences for people helps build a world where everyone can explore, connect and appreciate diversity.
  • Inspiring Experiences are first-hand experiences that are both Magnetic and encourage Growth
  • The Experience Engine includes systems that generate Inspiring Experiences and help remove the barriers to exploration and connection
  • It is vital to continually learn from and improve the Experience Engine

The CouchSurfing Organization has always had ambitious goals. We have often said, "It's not about the furniture!" Our members, volunteers and staff have been working for years to "create a better world, one couch at a time..." Now that drive is more focused: Create Inspiring Experiences.

This mission is a call to action for everyone in the CouchSurfing Organization. Each volunteer and staff member plays an integral role, whether it's the technicians building and maintaining systems, the Ambassadors organizing events in their local communities, remote volunteers greeting new members, or the kitchen managers keeping Collective volunteers well fed and happy. No matter what the specific responsibilities are, we all have a common objective. Our job, in the simplest terms, is to Create Inspiring Experiences. We are joined together in this extraordinary task because we love to explore, we know the power of meaningful connections and we are excited by diversity. We are inspired by our personal CouchSurfing experiences and we want to give this opportunity to everyone.

Member Testimonials

"CouchSurfing is a brilliant thing that brings us together no matter how far away we are from each other. We always learn new stuff from CouchSurfers whenever we meet new ones. It lets us all understand there's not much difference between us. When we are happy, we share the same kind of joy. When we are sad, we share the same kind of sorrow. We all expect the same kind of respect, and we all desire the same kind of love, and we all crave to be understood. It makes us realize that no matter what kind of skin colors we have, no matter what kind of jobs we do, no matter what countries we are from, and no matter what languages we speak, all of us are members of this planet."
