2 hours

Chess for everyone. Beginners to intermediate, I have a feeling if you're advanced you will be rather bored (unless you like winning).

We'll meet at "Seven:am"

www.sevenam.com.au/sevenam.htm

it's a cafe restaurant, meet upstairs or out the back courtyard (depends where is free) and I'll meet you there. I'll be the one with the chess boards.

Transport: Get the 109 Tram to Port Melbourne. Get off at Graham Street light railway station stop 128. Walk east through the park and along Graham St. If you can't work out which way, ask anyone, "Where's Bay st?" It's about a 5 minute walk. Graham street meets with Bay st, turn left, look for 155 Bay St, Port Melbourne.

This is the first time I've hosted a chess activity so we'll have to see how it goes and I'm open to ideas.

If you feel like eating there's good food here, $15-$20 for a main meal, or you can just have coffee and drinks if you prefer. There is no pressure to buy more than a drink.

I've chosen this cafe because it has excellent service and the owner himself said I was welcome to bring people to play chess here.

I'm currently trying to get new activities happening around Melbourne which are a bit more low key and don't involve so much alcohol. Yes, you can buy alcohol here, but it's more of a coffee scene.

The cafe closes by 3pm so I've chosen the afternoon when it's likely to be a bit more chilled out.

I'll bring some chess boards, but please bring one if you have one. I'm currently trying to get some more to bring.

I look forward to seeing you there and I'm happy to explain some rules to new players.

Thanks,
Alisdair.
