Several of us are planning to celebrate the full moon this weekend (very early Sunday morning (27 Jan.) -- or late Saturday night, if you prefer to look at it that way :-) with a night-time hike up to the top of Pedra De Gavea -- and see the sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean early on Sunday morning (27 Jan.)!
The plan is to meet -- rain or no rain -- at 12:30am (i.e., 30 minutes AFTER midnight) at General Osorio Station in the very early morning of Sunday, 27 January (or VERY late at night on Saturday, 26 January, if you prefer to look at it that way and are going to be out beforehand).
Our plan is to take a night bus out to the start of the trail, take about 4 hours to get to the summit, and then wait for the sun to rise around 5:30am or so. One of our group is from Rio and has done this before, so he knows what he's doing :-)
If you are interested, then just be at General Osorio station at 12:30am early on Sunday (27 Jan.) for a 1am planned departure by night bus.
If it turns out that it's raining, then as a back-up plan we might just go out and grab a drink somewhere... but our fingers are crossed for a clear night under the full-moon (at least for most of it).
