What/Why: Curb is an app for people to be able to explore and share the works of public art that they see and appreciate on the street. Users will be able to explore the most appreciated street art in their neighborhood and across the globe.
The world's cities are full of incredible street art, but despite the genre's exploding popularity only a handful of artists have gained the recognition they deserve, despite encountering beautiful art around us everyday. Furthermore, the internet is chalk full of these pieces, but in a fractured way that does not foster constant interaction, discussion, or appreciation. Curb sets out to fill this gap by providing a platform to recognize the hidden talent working just around the corner and allowing people to connect with each other over their mutual love for their city's art. This interaction creates a feedback loop between the people who enjoy street art everyday and the artists themselves, recognizing the creativity on our streets as more than just unused advertising space.
In order to fund the development of this free application, we're doing what we know best - getting some of Vancouver's most talented musicians, friends, a few street artists and we're throwing a party.
Dancing shoes will be hitting the floor hard with a funky line up like Steve the Creative Individual and the Ponderosas rocking the stage; and word on the street is that you might catch the premiere of curb's new promo videos...
All proceeds from the party go towards developing curb.
