Meetup and Discussion about a 7 day vagabond sailing adventure to take place March 16 - March 23 in the Whitsunday Islands in Australia (Great Barrier Reef). Contact me for more specific details on the meetup.
Our boat is a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 39i (2008). American CS member Rob Patrick (27, Austin, Texas) will be the skipper. We are renting a sailboat and have room for 7 others to come along on this trip, no prior sailing experience necessary, all you need is a spirit of adventure. If there is enough interest to fill two or more boats we will definitely do so. Rob sailed last year in the Greek Cyclades and the British Virgin Islands.
The cost per person for sharing the cost of the sailboat rental, 80% of meals (we like to dine out some nights), port/mooring fees, diesel fuel, and all other group expenditures is estimated very conservatively at $850 USD/week.
Additional costs to plan for: You are responsible for covering your own meals when dining out, as well as any personal expenses, shopping, etc., and transportation/airfare costs to the boat (fly in Hamilton Island).
We'll have a dinghy with an outboard motor, full kitchen with dishes, utensils, appliances, linens, and snorkeling gear provided
for us.
