Had to adjust this event because it appears quite a bit is going on in the Docklands. There is the initial event which is the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival 2013 Docklands. This runs from 11:00am to 3:00pm and is a free event. You can easily get to the event from the city circle tram (get off at the cow up a tree stop on Harbour Esplanade) or get off at stop 10 on the free Shuttle bus. And also a third free way to get to the event. A free ferry operating from Federation Square to the Docklands so you can get a free river cruise out to the event if you want. The ferry timetable is on the official event webpage here: http://www.destinationdocklands.com.au/docklands-event/melbourne-food-and-wine-festival-2013-docklands/
Also in the Docklands that day is the corporate dragon boat races which is also quite a fun event. Watched a few of these in the past. This runs from 9:00am to 4:00pm. The web page for this is here: http://www.destinationdocklands.com.au/docklands-event/corporate-dragon-boat-challange/
So you can take a free river cruise up the Yarra from federation square, enjoy some free food/beer/wine sampling, a bit of dragon boat racing, a bit of jazz and a free river cruise back to federation square afterwards.
I plan to be at the cow up a tree statue from 11:00am to 11:15am but if you tag along a little bit late just send a text to me on 0414421416 and I can try meet up.
