Canal Surfing

Details

Most boating on inland waterways is not sailing in the usual sense of the word because, with the exception of that on the Norfolk Broads, it is almost exclusively not powered by sails.

In the UK there are 2,200 miles of navigable inland waterways. These waterways are often man-made canals that were dug (cut) 200 years ago to link rivers to form an extensive transport network for the industrial revolution. Now days the network is primarily used for leisure by over 60,000 boats.

Most of these boats have a number of bunks, the marine equivalent of couches. This group is about sharing those bunks so if you are a boat owner or CouchSurfer who fancies BunkSurfing then this is the group for you.

Jonathan StokesJonathan Stokes I like the idea of this. I live in Birmingham, we have many canals, some say more than Venice. Perhaps if your passing through this city in your boat, we might meet! 08/29/2011
