!!!!PARTY TIME!!!!
I work on Surfrider beach in Malibu and I just learned from the lifeguards there that the Malibu Colony (aka multimillionaire/ billionaire /movie star neighborhood) brings in a barge (yes a Barge!) for Fireworks on the Fourth right next to surfrider beach which leaves us with a great view! The Beach does not close, just the parking lot so we can be there as long as we like!

According to the lifeguard if you want to find parking coming mid afternoon around 3pm or before is best. There is no BBQing or bon fires but hopefully the fireworks will be enough fire for us. If you make a right at cross creek road instead of a left into the parking lot if you are coming from the south you can find free street parking otherwise it is 10 dollars.

So bring your favorite Red White and Blue picnic foods and swimsuits. Alcohol is not technically allowed so be sure it is at least disguised. You can transfer it in to soda bottles, bring opaque plastic cups etc...

I will be working that day. I work for the Pacific Coast Water Study so if you want to participate and live in the United States, Canada or Mexico you can help us by filling out a survey based on your activities at the beach for the day and if you have been sick recently. You will receive a call in about 2 weeks to see if you have gotten ill in that time period after being at the beach. You will receive a awesome tote bag and some other goodies as well. But that is completely up to you.

I will probably be getting to work at either 8 or 10 that morning so if anyone wants a ride from anywhere between Cerritos and Malibu let me know.
