I cannot host, but would love to join other 'Surfers for an afternoon/ evening of cooking, sharing and eating.
I will gladly come early to help clean & set up, and stay late to wash dishes etc.

However, I would rather do the one in June rather than May. The Kensington Kinetic Sculpture Derby is on Saturday the 21st in May and that's a big deal in my neighborhood. I'm trying not to over commit myself.

from Philadelphia, United States (Permalink)I'll take June 18th and put up an event announcement in a little over a week so as not to cause confusion if there is a potluck this month. If the weather is nice, I have a backyard for grilling and chilling.
There's a lot of Kinetic Derby event talk around couchsurfing. I think it would be better to pass on a potluck on the 15th and save up people's strength for the next.
But if someone wants to do it for this Sunday, I don't want to stop them.
By the way, I live around the corner from Trenton Avenue so the Derby is a big deal for me. Can't wait.

Judy invites CouchSurfers, whether local or traveling through, to join her for a potluck dinner. She has invited
some friends and colleagues as well, so it will be a great mix of guests. Judy has photos and stories to share from her recent South Seas travels.
Start time is 6 PM. Bring what you like to eat and share.
The home is in the East Oak Lane area of north Philly:

Friday the 13th... North 13th St. --- come get Pot-Lucky!
(yes, it would be in lieu of meeting on the 15th)

Is there another potluck in June. I know that someone was thinking of doing it in June.. Is that still happening? I am eager to meet people. I just moved from Florida 4 months ago and I do not know anyone outside of work..

from Philadelphia, United States (Permalink)The potluck will be on Sunday, June 19th. Not this Sunday, but the next Sunday. I will put up an event announcement and create a separate thread to spread the word. I don't have a specific time in mind yet. As long as it's wrapped up by 9 pm, I'm fine.
I'll likely do the event announcement on Saturday (tomorrow) sometime. I'll have full details then.
I live in Kensington about two blocks from the Berks el stop and a half a block from the 3 & 57 buses. My place is easy to find and fairly spacious, with a backyard.
As for a theme, all I thought of "be cool" in the 100 degree heat. So icy cold drinks, spicy foods, and cooling dishes would be quite welcome. I'll try to create a catchier name for the theme.
