Could you please suggest a town?

Hi Guys

I would like to ask you for some help with choosing a town in Japan. I would like to spend there around a month starting mid feb. I would like it not to be winterish/greyish but rather relatively warm and at this time of the year it doesn't seem easy to find. I also would like it to have some nightlife (not to be too small). And I would like it not to be too saturated with westerners. So far my short research indicates Naha. What would you feel about it? Any other suggestions? I don't really care if there are touristy things to see etc. I just want rent a room there and connect to local life for a month or so.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Take care

Fiann

Okinawa is about 10% US military

Within your age bracket, that would stretch to about 20% of the people you see in the nightlife.

I've never been to Naha (even though Id really like to go!) but, statistically, its probably the most saturated with foreigners place in Japan (except maybe Niseko)

Why not go to Miyazaki? I hear its an amazing place

For nightlife, maybe Tsu or Kameyama in Mie-ken. Its really nice out there, and its less than an hour express-train to Nagoya for weekend nightlife or maybe 90 minutes to Osaka for really crazy nightlife. Tsu of course has karaoke bars and its own small scene

Hi Edward. Thank you for your response. The size of Tsu and Miyazaki is perfect and of course it appears better than Naha as I like mountains and alpine green vibe way more than tropical but it seems to be early springtime there means relatively cold and grey, am I right? If I could choose a time to visit Japan I would have gone there or would even try to find some high altitude towns but I have the only possibility to go there now and I am happy not to hit the boring winter weather. Does that leave any choices?

Thank you, Teri. But after researching the amount of foreigners there due to the navy base, I decided I would go to Miyazaki. Otherwise geographically it would be the perfect place in fact.

Matsumoto looks absolutely cool! Maybe I will shift there later if I happen to stay long enough, thank you for advice.
