Hey all!
Welcome to the Bay Area Assassins. So we've got 12 people signed up. I'm hoping we can get upwards of 21 before we get this game's debut underway. So this is a plea to get you all to go out and badger your friends into putting all that BSing about being a better cleaner than Leon, or more professional than Vincent Vega and Jules Winnfield to the test.
We'll see where the roster stands in a week and go from there. Thing is, we do need an odd number of members in the group so everyone has both a target and a pursuer, as I will be facilitating and not participating (e.g. w/ 12 members, minus 1 (me), one assassin would have to sit out.)
Thank you all for joining. It will be exciting when we get this thing up and running. And with this warm weather, who knows, your targets might actually thank you for squirting them w/ water or nailing them w/ a water balloon!

Best,
Benjamin

is there a non-couchsurfing website we can point them to? It will be a little confusing for most people to have to sign up and understand couchsurfing and then find, sign-up and understand the game... is there a cost involved?

Okay, so George makes some good points.
1) There's absolutely no cost involved. This game is totally gratis, like CSing itself, right?
2) I started a facebook group that people can join and we'll blend the 2 games together into one killfest. The group can be accessed/joined by going here -->http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=96978884831.
It might be a challenge to sew the two communities/games together, but I'll devise something that works for everybody. I'm open to suggestions.
Hope you're all excited to get this game off and running. We're still tentatively shooting for 28 April as Opening Day, so you may want to soon visit your weapons cache and retrieve that trusty watergun or prime a water-balloon to be ready for action in a moment's notice! You never know; your prey could be around the next corner, in the café down the street, or even live right next door!

More good questions...
I got sidetracked with a lot of BS last week, but I'm on the ball now, and Wednesday 6 May is go-time. I'll send everybody they're target assignments and let you all have at it starting on that day.
As other safe zones other than CS meetings... We're all adults here (more or less), and I think we can all exercise sound judgment as to when and where we choose to assassinate each other. Let's all agree to abide by the honor system and adhere to a kind of radically askew Golden Rule when stalking our prey: kill others where you would have yourself be killed!
It may well be that the only place you can track or locate your target is at their place of employment or edification, but it shouldn't be difficult to wait for an opportune moment to strike when they won't be ridiculed or chastised by their coworkers, classmates, professors or upper-management for being pegged by a water-balloon during a high level staff meeting or defending their dissertation.
I think it's important that we let this thing be as open-ended as possible, within reason of course.
Any other questions before we kick this thing off? Let's get everything sorted out before the slaughter begins.

one question. in the first post, you mentioned needing an odd number of players. that's wrong. you can play with any number. the assassin/target chain makes a circle. besides, if you start with an odd number, and one person is killed, all of a sudden you have an even number. this is not a problem; it's how the game is supposed to go.

am i wrong? am i thinking of the wrong game here?

So um, are we still doing this? I'm really excited!
