Christmas recipes from all over the world! HELP!

Hey!

I'm looking for some help: I'm partecipating in a New Year's Eve party and I have to cook something special, a particular xmas dish - salted of sweet - from anywhere in the world!
The problem is that I'm not such an expert so I need some help, especially 'cause at the party there's a sort of cooking contest. The most amazing recipe will win something. It's just a symbolic winning but I think it's nice to try my best...any suggestions?

A favourite dish I have prepared over & over again to CSers from around the globe is a Spicy Indian Lentil Soup.
Everytime, they LOVED it! Here is the recipe (in French):
