Place to stay (Maryland, Virginia, N.Carolia) approx. 2 weeks in March 2013

February 2013 by husband will retire and plans to sail from Tenerife to BVI in February, and from there to Chesapeake Bay at beginning of March 2013. As we don't know his exact arrival date I want to stay in that area around the last 2 weeks of March (exact data not yet knows).
I (59) will spend time out with small trips but also in house so I would prefer a place where I do not bother my hosts by that. Of course I would be willing to take part in the household.
I like reading and music, am a reasonable cook, love cats/like dogs, know enough about gardening, etc.

That's what my husband dreamed of also and that's why it's the first thing he does after retirement!
My request is just a place, not too far from the coast, to stay while waiting for him.
The idea is not for him to go up the river.
