Patty, what is the most worthwhile thing you have done? I have been relying on volunteers lately to do our laundry,to get a hot meal, to get hot showers, WIFI. Thank God for these people. Yes I agree there are many of them from all over the country and Canada. I am thankful for everyone of them. Their numbers make me happy that we are not forgotten now that the disaster is no longer front page news. It is going to take weeks if not months for us to get back to some state of normalcy. I can't believe it is still so hard for us to get a furnace. Being cold all the time is the worst part and now getting sick staying in my house. We got Coleman sleeping bags and a Coleman camping stove that really helped us from volunteers. I have always volunteered to help others in need. I kind of have a hard time accepting charity and try not to look these happy volunteers in the eye because it is a little too painful. Help out if you have nothing better to do. It is appreciated. This is the fourth year my friend has left her husband home, and we have hit the beach for two weeks. Always a lot of laughs! Pattaya is definitely not my style :) I'll be in Hua Hin, which is much tamer. while I have been here in the Uk I have been volunteering in a local charity shop for the Salvation Army and for Emmaus. I have just sent out 2 replies to couchsurfers needing a place.. couchsurfing is not just for Xmas... peace and love to all, any time...including Eid, Hanukka, Diwali etc george Unusually my whole house is empty for Christmas and New Year until the 2 men return who work locally and stay here. I have great resources here from many games, a coal fire, woods at the bottom of my garden, birds feeding in it and pink gin! I will go and see my daughter and granddaughter in Mikton Keynes. I have worked many Christmases, Many days are special for me during the year. Joy to you all, Val |
