Panama January 2013

I want the opinion of my age peers on travels under consideration. My children (ages 18 and 20) and I want to get away for 8 - 10 days in the very beginning of January. I read an article about Panama that made me think it could be a good destination for us (nice weather, reasonable airfare from NYC, and affordable prices there).

Does anyone have any advice on this for three hearty travelers of our ages? If not Panama, alternatives?

Lack of internet would be a plus, frankly. Tired of being tethered to equipment!

I went to Panama a few weeks ago on a scouting trip for retirement. It was very nice--though not Panama City. I went to Chiriqui Province and I heard Boca del Toro was a lot of fun (beach and eco places). Took my teenagers to Guatemala a couple of years ago and we all loved it!
