I was surprised by knowledge of USA specialists of geography too...to be so ignorant is their personal affair, but in the case of the CS they are affecting us so negatively...

CS from New Zealand are rare guests here,but after reading Britain's compulsory School subjects I really wonder:

Have they COMPREHENSED those listed School subjects?
Never've met Britain's CS with knowledge (mean with speaking skills) of modern foreign languages..

In France, the only "speciality" I can think of is philosophy, in the last class of highschool (17 to 18). The rest is very classic, with the teaching of two foreign languages being compulsory (which unfortunately does not seem to work very well...). Ah, the kids also get ECJS (Education Civique Juridique et Sociale) where they are supposed to learn how to become good citizens. Of course French state schools are completely religion free (State and Church have been separated for over a century).
Well I think that's it. A very interesting topic indeed and as a teacher I am really glad I can learn about what it is like in other countries. So, more messages please!
