Im wwoofing in Quebec right now, Ive decided I want to be an organic farmer for the rest of my life.

The farm im on now is a coop farm..

I want to start a coop farm in BC with other people next spring.

I would really love to start throwing around some ideas...

What I really want to do is make a differance.. ive been involved in activism and politics for a long time, and Ive never felt like Im making as much of a differance as working on these organic farms, and teaching people about organic..

I would really love to take the coop model of the farm im using now, and combine it with a more environmental, activist direction... The idea is we create a coop, barely cut ourselves salaries, live very lightly and reuse everything we can, so we can legally avoid income tax and reinvest in the farm.. And the goal would be to grow as much surplus as possible, and use it to cook large salads, etc... and donate it to a seperate coop (also run by us) which would then make salads, etc... and feed people.. free veggie baskets to low income housing.. walk around east hastings just feeding people.. and creating some sort of apprentiship on the farm, to help others do the same, and offering to go to peoples homes and help them build organic gardens...

Anyway.. I have a lot of ideas, and Its really cool cause the farm im wwoofing at now is a working example of a lot o them, so I can see whats working and what isnt... but the model as a whole works, I just would like to see it done with the emphasis on helping others and helping a movement, and not building dream homes and settling down... hard work with little monatary reward.. :)
