I'm not the kind of person who has to have a photo in front of every monument, I'd rather spend the time with local people. Some of my fondest memories of previous European vacations are the surprises and accidental discoveries. We went to Verona, Italy, but we stayed in a little outside town (Avesa) and they had a neighborhood festival, with local food, traditional music, and locally-made wine served in "recycled" glass bottles. In Salzburg, Austria, we met some people who took us to a charming little beer garden that we never would have seen if we stuck to the guidebook. These are the things I love to do.

Obviously, you don't have to commit now... Just posting here first, before finding specific people via the rest of the site.

P. S. we haven't even bought tickets yet, but right now we can get RT air from Chicago to Barcelona for under $700 per person. Can you believe it!?
