Every year we set up a meeting point, usually Dalmat Bar in front of the World Music Stage, with several meeting time-frames a day (like 12-15, 17-19 etc.), when people can come by and look for other CSers or HCers.
Usually we wait until Sziget organizers publish a map of a festival (because every year there are rumors that the lay-out will be changed), and then decide upon a meeting point and post details and map on the group.
However, as Sziget is always a noisy and overcrowded place, even with a given place/date/time it's not so easy to find other fellow members.
So CS-flags, t-shirts and other similar stuff is recommended. Last year we've managed to find a friendly CS crowd with one of the guys carrying a huge flag made of 3 meter's long tree-branch and a T-shirt with "CS" drawn on it with a permanent parker. :)

i havent bought my ticket yet.. im not sure anylonger to buy the full week camping entrance because im just arriving on friday evening and i can buy 3 single dayly entrances.. i read somewhere u can apply for a sleeping place if u have these kind of tickets..
could u confirm that based on your past experience?

There are different types of festival tickets.

As they say on a ticket information page, with two or more consecutive day tickets you can stay in a camping area of the festival.
For the camping you'll need a tent. We'd recommend to try to put your tent under a tree (shadow will protect you from hot summer sun) and not in a lower areas (the lower spot you choose - the more wet the soil will be, as the island is surrounded by a river).
It is also advisable to have a piece of polyethilene/plastic to put underneath a tent to protect it from moisture.
And of course ear plugs and sleeping masks are also recommended - Sziget is a noisy area :)
Very close to festival grounds there is Auchan supermarket where you can buy tents, sleeping bags, polyfoam mats, etc. - the prices are reasonable, the choice is good.

We are also 1st time Szigeters and would love to join the CS camp!
We are currently driving through eastern europe, and will be heading in with our car (though it is not allowed into the grounds). We were wondering if any of the local CS'ers would be able to provide a place to park during the festival time? or if there were any recommendations for a safe (and cheap!) place we could leave it?
We'd have no problems with parking somewhere outside the city and then traveling by train/bus.
Any help would be really appreciated!

You can try the free park&ride car parks. Some of them is guarded but they are not free.

CS meeting is a very good idea, but how it'll be possible to recognize each other?
there will be so many people!!!
There are several ways:
- Randomly ask people if they are from CouchSurfing
- Recognize by photo on profile
- Have someone's phone number and send a text/give a call
- Look out for CS-logo flags, t-shirts and other signs
I really want to go to Sziget, the only thing is that I have no one to go with me...
So It would be great to meet some CSs or nice group to spend a the festival with... xx

Same for me but i'll go anyway. Nice to know I'm not the only one who goes this way. I bet we can meet other Cs'ers and many other people too. Worst case you let me know and we start searching other Cs'ers together :-)
And there are allways plenty of nice people anyway.
I join for the canoe tour a week before (only for cs people) maybe you like that too. It's in Hungary aswell.
Anyway, don't worry, just go! it will be good.

i decided to take may back, my tent and "lets see"
we were around 60 and the big group around 35/40
so dont worry there are some csers like you

we will arrive on 13rd evening and i will carry our own tent.. She's not CS , yet and i will also try to introduce her into this world..
it would be great to stay in the corner of the island when u re also settling.. by chance, the most experienced ones of u alreday know where u will put your tent..i would be nice to have u around :)

where the CS camp is going to be?
I heard viri ( http://www.couchsurfing.org/people/virib/) is making flags etc so it shouldn't be hard to find once there. as long as everyone has (roughly) the same idea about the location of a CS tent-city.
number 55is the WM stage. As you can see it's the main camping area. There will be thousands of people camping there. (I'm not exagerating..) Unfortunately if we can't find a place near the path (not showed on the map) it'll be pretty hard to find us no matter how much decoration we will have...
The black lines means the path. Red point is the Dalmat bar. The pink one is the 1st CS camp from last year (if I'm correct) the orange one is where I camped, in the 2nd CS camp last year... But anywhere in that corner would be nice....

I'll be arriving sunday. Don't know exactly when. i'll probably be camping near Remco. trees do sound good. you don't want to wake up at around 08:00 because the sun is burning on your tent.

Dont worry Sicky a big part of the camping is nice and shady (actually where you see the green). The more problematic part is to get a bigger shady place....

I'm on a Solo mission to Sziget also.
I have a tarp but would prefer to crash in someones tent! Should I just rock up to the black X on the map?
This is my first time to Sziget, I have one question, its on the river so are there lots of mosquitoes?

It would be great to meet up (I had a big group from Australia last year so never made any of the meetings)but this year would be keen to be more international.... so is the meeting point the Dalmat bar or the WM stage? There is about 100m between the 2 points!

Coming to Sziget on Wednesday the 12/8 around afternoon. I'm coming with my tent but unfortunately it's quite small for more than a person and his luggage :(
First time in Sziget and I really want to meet as many CSers as possible!
I read almost all posts on this thread but didn't really get it :/ :? :o how I'm gonna find you!? There are a lot of opinions stated here that confuse me somehow (Dalmatar bar, WM scene, no specific time, will there be a sign that can help us recognise the meeting point or the CS camping place? etc.)
So.. the million-dollar question :)
Is it possible to have the number of someone who will definitely be there so I can call him/her when I'll reach the island? (I already got the numbers of the people who posted it on this thread - I mean Antony's :) - I guess I'll call you sometime on Wednesday)

Yeah, I thought about the same but hoped it would be clearer later. But I guess the date is close enough, though I will join only from saturday.
So I would like a meeting at 12:00 (noon) at the Dalmat bar behind the World Music stage. I will be there.
And because I will wear some CS signs I also hope that someone will pat my shoulder and say hi to me randomly.

Some people already arrive this Saturday. They can make CS-camp possible. Don't know how, but they will.
More people come Sundays. I myself and some more people come this Monday. Maybe it would be wise that every 2 hours (12,14,16,18) someone is at the Dalmat-bar Sunday and Monday, recognizable as CS-er.
The meetings every day are at the Dalmat-bar at 12 o'clock I understand. And maybe also at 14 hours, early enough for the first bands of the day. That mostly start at 15 hours.

And we will set a meeting for every concert of the main stage: 30 - 20 mins before the concerts, at a certain place (TB dicusssed later...)

Hey there everybody!
It’s Francesca and Anna-Sophie! We will arrive in Budapest tomorrow (7th august)morning at about 10 a.m.
From the airport, we’re go directly to the festival-area to build up out tent….also already looking for a nice spot where we maybe can rice up the camp.
For all those people coming the 9th…..we’ll be in front of the DALMAT BAR at 13H for about 30/45minuts with the CS_FLAGGE (which will be soooooo hugh that you must be blind to miss it).
On the festival-plan you’ll find the bar in front of the WORLD-MUSIC-STAGE, left hand side of the plan…
So try to be there!!! Anyway we plan to come back to this meeting point more or less every 2hours …..but for sure we or I miss all this meeting possibilities FRA will have the Flag with her all the time!
At JOHANN and VIRI BODI…..we try to reach you…once we arrived at the festival area….to meet up there or in the city or and or and or… to organize the camp and much more important the nights^^.

Luckily we also have the 'smaller' meetings before every act (for those who want (to see)) on the Mainstage. Don't know where exactly, but think that would be the bar at the end of the field.
