Home

For those who didn't see this new movie on our planet yet, and about the challenges that we are about face.
It is way better than Al Gore's inconvenienth truth, instead of whining politicians and scientists, just 1h30 of stunning images from above.
The facts mentioned in this movie won't be new to most of us I guess, but the images are either really beatiful, or a confrontation with our work.
sometimes even a rare beaty of our destruction, hard to describe that though...

anyway, you can see it for free here as it was ment to be ( I advise HD )
www.youtube.com/user/homeproject

maybe it is interesting to post what you think of it, anyone

PJ

PS I know it was supported by the PPR group, that could be a mjor subject of discussion too :)

True, but in the movie itself you won't notice it's sponsorship,
and I did my research, the PPR group is actually trying pretty hard to develop a sustainable economic structure...
panta rei kai ouden menei, change is always immanent

doesn't take away the damage done ofcourse... :)

Same discussion than when Nicolas Hulot (http://www.fondation-nicolas-hulot.org) tried to make actions using money of sponsors as TV channel.

So what??? why people always search something to criticize when someone try to move something...? the most important is that HE TRY TO MOVE SOMETHING! he try to change the way the people think about planet and ressources.

And what's the problem if for that he takes the money of too rich industries? "mmmh that's hell, i won't listen what he says"??
A bit easy to criticize like that... And thanks Pieter, this film should be seen by all ; )

I agree with you, yann Arthus bertrand is a great guy, and a true environmentalist, it is merely the contradiction, and in the beginning of the film the brand names come in quite visibly, that was my only point of critic,

on the other and most important hand, no one would have seen it for free or get such cheap dvd's of it :) without the ppr group
so that is really great

and for what i have read the PPR group is really trying to invest in a sustainable program for their company's, so that is good too :)

Hi Grampied, Peter,
Ok ok for the "saine méfiance" and all you talk in your messages but for me the main thing is that this kind of film will prehaps open the eyes of people who are not sensible about those problems.
And for the industries, i prefer to see them invest to support a "earth video" than spend their money to support stupid things as privatisations in poor countries (for exemple monsanto in India...)
Of course the way the product the goods and their "more profit science" are not representative with the message of the film but prehaps it's a good first step to change something in their future investments? (i hope, i know i know i'm a bit optimist, but i have a dream that one day... ; ))

Ah, i forgot a point about "pourquoi on ne parle pas du consumerisme,de reduir les consumes"
Yan Arthus Bertrand has made a dedicated video on this point called "6 milliards d'hommes a nourrir"
Unfortunately i've found just an extract here, but can be downloaded in otherways :

And thanks for the book ideas, i'll read them!

His project 6 billions others is indeed very intruiging, you can find all the interviewed people (new ones added every day) on his site,

and I approve your point, it is just that the movie has little to teach me, but indeed it will work for people who haven't watched the right direction yet :)

its like those darn washingpowder adds, you make one, people will buy the powder,
so for ervery movie, or anything made about climate change, more people will buy it .... or is this a bad methaphor :)
haha thanks for the interesting discussion anyway, both of ya

Some of my good friends watched it too, we all agreed that the images were stunning, but its information and its message were already clear to us a long time ago. As you did appearently and its a very good cause, this movie is ideal for educational purposes :)

One thing I don't understand is the film maker do not allow people embedding his film on their sites (blogsites/profiles/etc) when he wants to save the world.
