What up Beijingers? What about a wild great wall hiking for the coming Sunday (Sep 11)? Huanghua part of the Great Wall is an awesome part for hiking and, especially, adventure. Different from other parts of the wall, most of which are impressive enough, this “wall in the water” is full of stone relics and wild plants. The pavements does not consist of steps but mainly slopes, therefore the hiking will be less possible on rainy days. Sheer drops appear quite often where you have to be good at rock climbing. I went there last weekend with my friend and some other cs-ers. On more than half of our trip, we are the only people climbing the dangerous parts. But of course, this does not require prof. training, coz I don’t have any. :P You can read more about the site by these two links: http://www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/thread.jspa?threadID=1765018 http://www.kinabaloo.com/huanghua_great_wall.html Weather and Holiday! Fortunately, we will get perfect weather on the 11th, not the 9th or 10th, and for people who may not enjoy a Chinese mid-autumn holiday, 11th is still the weekend. How to get there Last time we hire a car which can take six people and the car charges 700RMB in total for return. It takes around two and a half hour to get there. The driver is really good and we didn’t feel uncomfortable at all. But this depends on whether we will be lucky enough to summon 5-6 people If not, then we can take a bus from Dongzhimen, then transfer 1—2 times. It will take around three and a half hour to get there, but still not too bad. Please reply here or send me a message if you are interested. It will be great to travel together, even for one day!
