Location: Ideas >> freecycle.org freebox – valueing the second hand and creating cohesion
Hello everybody, since you are all into freecycling I hope to fall on sympathetic ears here. I am a MA student for Digital and Visual Communication at the University of Wolverhampton (UK). I want to promote my project, the freebox, which is a concept to change our behaviour and attitude towards commodities and the throw-away-society. It basically is a shelf, where people can put things which are not required anymore and others can take them. Who doesn't like to get a freebie or more importantly give away old stuff knowing that someone else will like and take it? This kind of gift giving creates a sense of community and makes people happy. And hopefully people will get away from the consumerist thinking of always buying new. I would like to spread the word about this freecyling method and encourage anyone interested in establishing a freebox in their own work environment, at a (sport) club, school, etc...and give me feedback about it :) facebook (Student Union freebox): http://www.facebook.com/freeboxwolves blog: http://freebox-uk.blogspot.co.uk/ |
