Any ideas about the 2012 Elections? Volunteering / Interning opportunities

Hey Guys and Gals,

I just graduated from my Law and International Politics degrees in Australia and I'm really keen to go to the US and try to get some practical campaign experience in 2012. I've got relevant experience to play a role in some junior capacity, but even just really basic stuff would be an amazing experience.

I'm wondering if anyone has any tips or ideas for how I'd get involved in a Democratic house or senate campaign in 2012?

Could I just rock up at campaign headquarters and ask to be put to work? Has anyone had any experience doing campaign volunteer work in the US? I'd be happy to go pretty much anywhere and dedicate myself full-time for a few months to it.

Thanks Chad - It'd be more than a little dissapointing if I travelled all the way from Australia and got turned away at the door haha. In your experience, how do the House, Senate and Presidential campaigns differ in terms of organisation and volunteer experience?

Well it's tough to tell. I did stuff for the Sestak campaign 2 years ago, but I didn't start till the last two months or so. The work is almost exactly the same though; I mostly make cold calls.
