I'm not as up on the covered bridges in Vermont as other folks are likely to be. I don't know, for instance, which bridges have been harmed or destroyed by Irene. However, here's a pretty nice guide from Vermont Living Magazine that will give you a place to start:

There's a bridge with a parking lot and a little park so you can walk around near the one in Marshfield, just off Route 2. I just drove by that on Saturday and it's there, and it's such a lovely, rural setting full of Vermont charm. It's across from THE BIGGEST OLD BARN IN THE WORLD (ok, it's probably not the biggest, but my god that thing's huge). I love the Plainfield/Marshfield area. Really a wonderful drive taking Route 2. :)

well, if you are going to come to byurlington straight from montreal; you can find books 'vermonts covered bridges' in Out Door Gear exchange on church st.
