Hitchhiking from Osaka to Tokyo on the 22th of July.

Konichi wa Minna san!

I am going to hitchhike from Osaka to Tokyo tomorrow, and want to ask if somebody wants to join me? :)

And does someone maybe know a good starting point?
I know service areas are good, but where in Osaka is it smartest? Like near to a highway that goes to Tokyo?

Kind regards
Lars

hey brother!
well, i've hitched from Osaka to Kagoshima before and i tried near to a highway and was ok(i think i waited for an hour before i got a ride). It's quite difficult to hitch in the big city like Osaka but people'll help you anyway, you be ok. you can get a free road map(very good map) in a service area which is very useful for hitching.
Happy travel!

Yo!

Thanks for the tips! I had a similar tactic, but I was not prepared so well (no map), but people were very nice and helped me!

I made it to Tokyo, maybe not on the usual hitchhiker way, but I made it and explored some great japanese culture!

My tips:
get to a service area or highway entrance or gas station early.
dont write your end distination on the sign. Tokyo was too far, I should have started with Nagoya or something.

But was a very cool experience :)
Take care!
