This is from myletsadopt.com and I think it sums up quiet well what a foster is and why it is such a vital part of animal rescue.
Without a proper family or willing individual to take care of the needy animal temporarily,the rescue is not complete,it is indeed a teamwork.

I have been rescueing animals since I was a child like most of the rescuers (seems we're born this way :-) ) and back then we inherently knew we should not let go of an animal until he was ready to go home or back to nature if the rescue was not a domestical animal.

So I hope as the group grows many couchsurfer will take an interest in becoming foster for our little friends and offer their couch ;-)
