The official statistics include all acounts ever created, even if they have never been used or long since been deleted. But it is true that even if you don't log in after the date which they eventually choose for some new terms of use to go into effect other activity, such as receiving email copies of group posts, could be interpreted by them as use. Personally I still believe the best action if you wan't CS to obtain a license to your content and still make a statement is to remove whatever you can and leave a link to where you are moving. I also think that 'deleting' the account is a good option. If I leave it, the number of accounts they have will be pretty high which makes their stats look even better. CS has always included deleted and inactive accounts in their statistics. Fenton admitted that only one third of the accounts they had were actually active. If do not deactivate my original account, I cannot sign in later to deactivate it since then I would accept the terms and they would be able to use all my past data. I think having a account even without signing in can be interpreted as usage of the service. Please read the current ToU, which you supposedly tacitly agreed to. They give CS the "right" to do much of what the new ToU do. There is nothing in the old ToU to say they can not exploit your data after you have left. |
