just a silly question: why caring what kind of orga C$ is/becomes?

is CS = the Couches and the Community (Casey has grown here) and the non-commercial Spirit married with THIS website???

why don´t a couple of guys (and girls) out of this community build a group to prepare a new platform - either an existing one or a new one ... so in some months the community can move ... and it can keep the spirit ...

so Corp$urfing can have any ToU they want - and we leave the investors a website with 2 X00 000 inactive profiles *fg*
(that 3 million they were sooo proud of reduced by the real community of a few 100 000 active ones!)

> Most people who have abandoned C$ went to
> BeWelcome.
I know
(and also have made a profile there)

but is that 1 % of critical minds enough???

if you are aware of network economics, you know that in network it is the number that counts!

one example:
why do you use a commercial mobile phone to talk to your friends in town?
and pay fees for talking to people who are around within a radius of a few kilometers/miles???
there is citizens’ band radio everyone culd use for free for that purpose!

(maybe you use your mobile phone just because EVERYONE you want to talk to has one, but just one or two freaks use citizens’ band radio?!)

> So BeWelcome seems to be the well done alternative.
it seems to me they have the Spirit :-)

but neither the Couches nor enough people to run a lively Community ...
(and WELL DONE would include a marketing concept to get that "C"!)

"is that 1 % of critical minds enough???"

If they are vocal and among the most active hosts, the impact is significant. Is it enough? Depends on the objective.

The main issue today is that most users are not aware of the issues, or don't understand them.

Don't forget HospitalityClub.org, GlobalFreeloaders.com :) They might not be as sexy as BeWelcome but they have been here looooooong before it. They are the like of IRC channel for chatting or emule for p2p. Sill alive but without the hype.

Forget HostilityClub which is as big a fraud as CS.
If you cycle, consider WarmShowers.org.
