Our video for the CouchSurfing video contest
Announcing our first-ever video contest! Show us your world for a chance
to see the world: two film-making CouchSurfers will win round-the-world
plane tickets.
Here's your chance to get your message out with your portrait of CouchSurfing, and win a RTW trip (or a bag...).
Anybody in for a nice video about CouchSurfing as seen by us which we
can "like" on YouTube? Submission deadline November 30th, but the
earlier it is posted the more time to "like" it ;-).
There are some strict rules, though, e.g.:
"your Submission must not disparage any person, product, service, or entity"
"your Submission must not be inappropriate for or harmful to Sponsor’s brand or image"
"Your Submission must not contain material that violates any applicable
law or regulation or contain any descriptions or depictions of illegal
behavior, including, but not limited to, any depictions of any persons
violating applicable laws, ordinances, or regulations of any nature."
This probably means that you cannot depict or reinact any CouchSurfing Collectives, the privatization of CouchSurfing, or the change of the terms of use.
Well, I guess the most honest and representative videos won't be able to win the official prize after all. We can always hand out an alternative price for videos that don't qualify but do illustrate the spirit of CouchSurfing.

This contest really makes me angry.
We can win a super "pollute-around-the-world-airplane-tour", to funly imitate billionaires…
We can ask Couchsurfing for a better prize, winning the same pollute trip but with this plane:
It will pollute even better, and be even more fun!
I mean it will be more clever and useful to win this instead…:
Or this plus a bob trailer:
Or this plus a brompton:
Or this (for bike crazy tourers):

which countries?
I am actually compiling a video about couchsurfing right now... I heard about the contest only after I already started. I don't think mine is going to be the kind that's going to win but I will still participate and embed some info about this change of policy in my video.
I had some idiot from a different contenet with no affiliation to me whatsoever message me personally to "like" their video.
I couldn't even report it as spam as it wasn't commerical spam.
Nothing prevents you from reporting it as commercial spam anyway, now that CS is a commercial company and any message promoting CS of commercial nature.

If anybody is interested, this is the video I made about my experiences with Couch Surfers.

The asterisk on top leads to the description box where I state that I do not mean Couchsurfing.org
it is quite lengthy and maybe not overly exciting for people who haven't been there. It is more like a gift to my guests. With good music and some analogue photography as well as footage made with an Ipod touch. I've included also my opinion about the changes in C$.
enjoy.
