Open the Prefernces pane (Click Safari in the Menu bar and click Prefences.) 2. Click the Security tab. 3. There's a section labeled 'Cookies'. Click 'Show Cookies' You can do one of 2 things from here: 4. Select specific cookies to remove 5. Remove all. This member has chosen to allow only Couchsurfing members to see their group posts. Click "reset Safari" from there you can choose to have it delete a bunch of different things (history, clear the cache, delete cookies) so I suppose that's at least a quicker way to do it. I have heard that modern techniques allow tracking without cookies, sometimes through the installation of cookie-like devices elsewhere? Sidenote on supercookies: I also regularly check the flash *supercookies* folders and trash the contents. It's fine to kill everything in these folders but I do leave settings.sol untouched. Via XP, the folder locations are: C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR_USERNAME\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\macromedia.com\support\flashplayer\sys C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR_USERNAME\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects In other OS's, I don't know the path to these folders but if you search for the flash file "SharedObjects", you'll get there. The names of the files leave no doubt that they are tracking cookies, suitable for destruction :) |
