The new owner must not have heard the adage: "If is ain't broke, don't fix it!" Me too! It's really hard to find anything. It's necessary to spend lots of time to find what you need. VERY UNFRIENDLY! I actually found the old site horrible already... but the new one is even worse. The site of bewelcome.org is a lot better, more functional and user friendly. Plus, they are not making money off their user's data. I suggest every one who is unhappy with the new Couchsurfing to give it a try. G.TEAM wrote: "As such it would be possible to set free a huge amount of financial support from the state and in return it would be possible to employ, voluntary or not, lot of people, willing to do whatever work for the community." I have not seen any evidence yet that money improves hospitality experience, or that much money is needed. I have seen, though, what money has done to CS and what exclusively member-driven hospitality communities are able to achieve with a couple of hundred euros per year. Also, if more money was needed than members are willing to contribure it doesn't seem reasonable to expect taxpayers to pay so that we can save money when traveling and benefit in many other ways. There are a lot more worthy and important causes for the state to fund. I already joined bewelcome.org and warmshowers.org. And you? I will see. warmshower at most for bicyclers. Only? I don't know. As for me, just ask the peoples. Is it not the same with or without any bike? For me, it is. I use all these site mainly for a first contact only. I don't mind any profile. It's may be différent in the big or touristic towns... BeWelcome could be the solution. BUT, unfortunately - you can find hosts there only in the big cities mainly in Europe and US. You cannot find the host in Morogoro, Tanzania or Fianarantsoa, Madagsacar... :-( "You cannot find the host in Morogoro, Tanzania or Fianarantsoa, Madagsacar... :-(" All it takes is to convince the only CS member actually hosting in Morogoro to sign up with BeWelcome and your chances to be hosted will be the same... The functionality which I valued most from the old format have all disappeared. I thought the idea was to build a community among PEOPLE....and not CONVERSATIONS. i like communicating directly with people.....in a user friendly way....and I don't like being overwhelmed by THREADS in which I have no interest. Looking forward to a groundswell that leads to more positive directions. |
