Having a good background in IT, programming, web and that kind of stuff I've been thinking about alternative concepts of CouchSurfing a lot already. Now with the recent events I started to look around... thinking about reimplementing a new plattform, thinking about helping HC or BW and then I saw this subgroup. And this is the answer. We need a decentralized social plattform. Inspired by the links I did some research and I stumpled upon some very interesting projects.Some look dead, some look like they would reinvte the wheel and some look damn alive and based on well proven techniques. The most promising I saw first was http://onesocialweb.org/users-intro.html which is based on XMPP, the famous decentralized protocol used by Jabber, Google Chat, and more. It looks a bit dead, but there's more... http://buddycloud.com/ This looks damn neat, and even though it's an enterprise driven project it's all open source and in the spirit of a free, decentralized social network.
