Location: Ideas >> Vegans & Vegetarians >> vegan/vegetarian vegan airline meals?
Hey everyone, I will be flying internationally shortly and the problem I run into is finding an airline that will accommodate healthy and wholesome vegan meals. Any suggestions on airlines that value these kinds of options? Thanks Hi DMEETUP, I think if you're flying long distances you can request special meals with most airlines. However, you can always bring your own food and you're not up there forever. Have a safe trip VGML ... i flew with quatar and emitates it was nice... check the web there is also a vegan indian option but u need to investigate what the appreviation is. There is a vegan Indian option?? I never saw that... but VGML works fine -- just make sure you remind whoever books the ticket that it is important they book the right meal code. Most "big" airlines have vegan meal options ->http://www.ivu.org/faq/travel.html However, it depends heavily on the airport(s) you're flying from, as food is prepared/ decided on there. With my limited experience it worked out 50% of the time, with steward(esse)s sometimes sharing their fruit stash with me, when food was nonvegan ... Abu Dhabi was bad in that sense (Spinach with Paneer...) and London was great. I have traveled quite a bit and in many different airlines and almost always had meal options I wanted. Some airlines are very detailed about what they serve in each option and some airlines don't know anything even if you call their customer service. Like others have noted VGML works but the safest option is take some food with yourself in case they don't bring the food you expected. Most airlines offer vegan meals on long-distance flights, but it's often expensive. It's free on British Airways flights. No vegan options on short-distance flights. Bring your own food instead! ;-) Hello, what I know is: Almost all Airlines offer vegan meal, but you have to order it before and it has to me a long flight. There are special codes for every "style" of meal: VGML (Vegetarian, vegan meal) --> Vegan! RVML (Vegetarian, Raw Meal) --> Fresh Fruits and Veg FPML (Fruit Planter Meal) --> Fresh Fruit VJML (Vegetarian Jain Meal) --> Vegan, without special Veg (Jainistisch) Not Vegan: VLML, AVML, VOML Keep in mind: Special meals have to be preorder 48 hours before the latest, always check indregiens yourself again on board, better repeat your wish while check-in. We wish you a pleasent yourney.! Source: http://www.amazon.de/Vegan-Vegane-Lebensweise-f%C3%BCr-alle/dp/3000284044 Thanks, Yvonne and Chrissy. I actually ordered the Vegan Meal on Jet Airways, and was not told that it will be more EXPENSIVE. In fact, I paid for the plane ticket and then followed suit with my special meal request. I actually contacted the CEO directly, because I have heard Jet Airways can be notorious for not provding vegan options. Fortunately, he responded, and the Guest Relations head contacted me, as well. Let's see how it goes in a couple of weeks. Thanks for the information, but if you come by to Barcelona dont forget to taste this wonderful vegan cupcakes - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iu-R3-BFr78&list=PLD30074FE2A2314BE&index=2&feature=plpp_video Peace P. |
