Thanks Jo and Kathy - I will be in touch with your recommendations. Just waiting to hear from participants who want to come cycling to know how many and for how long.

I would like to bike. I would like to swim as well if it is not too cold.

Katie, Kathy
I am thinking of joining this meeting and cicycling.
1) Kathy - is there a near-by bike rental service ? If you don't know off the top of your head, I will do the research.
What are the results of your research?
2) If there is, who wants to join in ?
I want!
3) If our schedule is already full, I will be biking after the meet-up and invite others to join me for a day or two.
Perfect!
Emi.

I have a foldable bike wich weights around 15kg.
It wants to go with me but I am still deciding...

Keep plugging away, Jo: you can do it!
5 years ago I was in a wheelchair. Now
I work full time.
It just keeps getting better.

Tina:
im looking at bike routes in the area, i have gps and would be happy to plan a few routes but need to know how serious people are about their riding.
I am not serious at all about riding.
Like to go slow, enjoying, taking photos, chatting, picnic-ing.
if you think you will be riding are you interested in road only, mix of gr routes and road, singletrack ?
I thought of Canal du Midi.
distance wise would you be interested in 10 or 20 miles or more?
that´s ok, 10 or 20 miles.
Hugs!

I have TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) so my balance is shot.
I've come from a wheelchair, to a walker, to on my own.
I can no longer balance on a bicycle (remember they say once you learn to ride a bike you always can ride a bike? Not true), so i have an electric tricycle. I call her Troika. I started riding her before I could walk and we've been best friends ever since.
I know how much you feel the freedom when you're biking.
It's empowerment.

@Tina, sounds good!
@Catherine,
If our schedule is already full, I will be biking after the meet-up and invite others to join me for a day or two.
Are you still up to it?
I would love to have my bike there, but maybe will be more practical to rent one for 2-3days.

Jo:
Canal du Midi is a bit far, non? How do you propose to get there?
I am planning with Christel, a French friend ( who is CSer but won´t be in Dordogne) a 3-day-bike trip along Canal du Midi.
I propose - and bought the train tickets yesterday - to leave Perigueux by train on April 30th 8:38am via Bordeaux, arriving in Toulouse at 14:57h.
Bike ride:
From Toulouse to Castelnaudary (54km) - meet Christel at her friend´s home in Castelnaudary.
- 1st May - Castelnaudary to Carcassonne (35km)
- 2nd May - Carcassonne to Narbonne (64km)
Thinking on some "little details":
- how to get the bikes? would be perfetc if we can rent them in Toulouse and deliver in Narbonne. If not possible, I am considering buying one cheap & good second hand in Toulouse, or Castelnaudary - or even in Perigueux.
- accomodation: maybe Christel will find some friend´s couch along route for us two. So, most probably, who else comes will have to look for their own accomodation.
- food & beverages: I think will be plenty of options along the Canal.
I think it will be a nice bike trip and invite all friends bike riders to join!
Hugs to all!

Just want to report that I and Christel made this bicycle trip along Canal du Midi, from Castelnaudary to Narbonne.
Around 100km in three days, slow pace, good weather, good luck, great views!
In Castelnaudary we stayed at friend´s house. A couple with two kids that accompanied our firsts kms by bicycle. We had a picnic, they returned home, we followed.
First night we couch surfed in Carcassonne. Second night in a nice git in Olonzac. Third day we reached Narbonne.
From Narbonne we took 2 trains and reached Py, Christel´s hometown, at the end of the third day.
Spent two days in Py, a tiny lovely village in Pyrenées Orientales.
With this journey I had a dream turned reality.
Loved to live it!

We took our bikes to Brittany some years ago. My daughters were 10 and 13. Before CouchSurfing! We had 3 other friends with us and camped. We carried all of our stuff on panniers. It was great fun for 2 weeks.
The sheer freedom of the wind in our hair, with no helmets then was exhilarating and not knowing where we would be that night.
I took my daughters cycling in Holland too and we then had a junior back 1935 Rudge tandem which was wonderful.
We flew our bikes to Frankfurt and cycled down the Rhine and camped and Youth Hostelled.
Having a bike is such freedom. I cycled in Ireland and Slovakia too.
Be well and enjoy,
Val
