Hello,
I'm a member of an agro-tourism association in Cameroon (AGROTOUR) and actualy we are looking for volunteers.

AGROTOUR has a will to succeed some equitable economic exchanges while hoping to contribute:
- to the valorization of the farming and Cameroonian culture;
- to the cultural and social exchange backing between the North and the South;
- to the creation of supplementary incomes for peasants;
- to the improvement of the habitat and the setting of life in farming and urban environment;
- to the diversification of financing sources for local peasants organizations and for AGROTOUR.
The concept
How to make possible meetings that raise cultural gates between travelers and populations of villages hosts?
How does to put relief and emotion in the very smooth relations who usually settle between tourist and local population?…
...While placing the visitor in heart of local life, in direct contact with families with whom he shares lodging and food. The traveler discovers their daily, their hopes and sometimes their difficulties.
AGROTOUR moves away from usual tourist sites to center each stages of its circuits around the meeting with a local family or association. The accent is put on peasants organizations and an opening for intercultural borders.
The accompaniment by a peasant guide, the local transportation use and the lodging in locals families facilitate the meeting and exchanges.

AGROTOUR proposes its stays in small groups of 4 to 8 people to not generate too massive and frequent arrivals of tourists and to not damage natural habitat. This is how AGROTOUR offers circuits and stays all year round at inhabitant in the very specific regions of the country and for all ages.
Host families (semi modern house or local traditional houses) selected for hygiene and security guaranteed and having followed an adequate formation program regularly. Activities include meals together, cook bongoh djobi " or other Cameroonian specialty for the dinner, to make shopping in local markets, while visiting water falls and caves, visit of royal palace, museum, neighbourhood villages, tourist sites, assist to particular interest ceremonies. Taste corn roasted around fire, meet people from village and listen histories from a long time ago, etc.… Food served is produced in locally fields and biologically, all this with very competitive prices.

To reach those objectives therefore, our association is looking for volunteers with good will of humour, solidarity mind and good physical condition to test our new sustainable and available circuits for stays of 2 weeks minimum. They will share our daily in the association and the live with certain local families. The lodging and food are provided with contribution 200 € for 2 weeks, You will live in those family like a member of them, share his life, have the opportunity to visite some regions et and touristic place in the village. During and after your stay, we need to you to give us your opignon as a tourist about your stay in the place and in the families in order to manage well in the future, definitely select the family or the region as a potential new circuit.
You will also have enough time to visite some other places you need.
Participate in an solidary stay with AGROTOUR is not therefore only to go to meeting another cultural identity, but to work for improvement of life conditions in the respect and the dignity of inhabitants. The principal is not the development of the tourism but the setting up of development tourism in host communities.
