Dear Jim: I'm so envious you traveled to both Australia and Alaska. Two of my target destinations. Were you traveling with anyone in Australia? I might want some tips from you about that. Wishing you all the best, Wendy

My Australia visit was my "oh wow" moment, and I can only think of more travel, longer, to both other cultures and familiar ones. I'm totally free, no family other than one brother back east. If there's anyone who has freed themselves of a house and traditional trappings please write. That's my next step, and I'm planning to take it in stages. Is that the best way? Dear Jim: I'm so envious you traveled to both Australia and Alaska. Two of my target destinations. Were you traveling with anyone in Australia? I might want some tips from you about that. Wishing you all the best, Wendy Jim, Great to hear you have caught the travel bug. Cheers and safe travels, Paul and Kate CS ID: crowlandgrange Thanks for your e-mail Paul and Kate! That's a very ambitious travel plan that you have. I will check out some of your trips and maybe I can join you on a journey. My brother lives in Erie, PA so I may be out your way this summer or next. Peace, Jim My late husband I also wanted to be in The Century Club.. Unfortunately he recently passed at age 60 :-( However I am at 71 countries thus far and am adding Egypt, Israel, Russia, Bulgaria, Albania and Ukraine on an upcoming cruise. So that will make 77 for me. I have already been to Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey, and Croatia before that are ports of call on this upcoming cruise. I got such a deal 78% off and it's an ocean view cabin. $3000 for 30 days and 21 ports on Holland America. Anywone want to share the cabin??? Too bad I can't count the number of times I have been to some places like India, China, and Thailand over 30 times each, and so many times to all Asian and SE Asian countries and UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, and a few others numerous times. Isn't it a great feeling. I am also free and traveling I sold my car but left the house with a rental agent. Due to RE prices at the time. I now live in Bulgaria as its a great place to get around both Europe and Asia plus its good financially and it's beautiful country. If you are in the area,, come visit Elizabeth We sold our house in August and have been traveling since. The money we spend on the road is what it cost to pay mortgage, upkeep, lights/gas. We are having lots of fun and enjoying every minute. We have done a little couch surfing, stayed with friends, motels and time share get aways. We've spent 4 weeks in the Bahamas, and plan on going to Mexico for 2 months. It can be done. We have no date to stop so we will just keep going as long as it is fun. Once we want to settle we'll pick where and then just rent -- with no upkeep on a home. Best thing we ever did. We are both only children, and have only one son who is in the Air Force, so it isn't like we've got lots of kids, grandkids to keep us in one spot. The only thing I miss is our close friends, but we keep in touch. We are making new CS friends as we go along and that is great. No regrets. Right now I'm in Thailand until late February. If you are in the neighborhood, give a shout. It's always fun to share a travel adventure or two with someone else. Happy New Year! I'm on the coast at the moment...hot but not scorching and no humidity. Happy New Year! Hi all, and yes I'm still around! I just haven't checked this link in a while. I'm planning a 3 month trip to Australia: Feb 2-May 2, 2013 I just bought a used van thru a friend in Brisbane. My stops include 2 weeks in Melbourne and about a month in Perth/Freo (including the Neil Young concert March 2). I want to see, photograph and hike as many national parks as I can; will also attend Toastmaster and Mensa meetings. Searching for travel partners for any portion of the journey (starting & ending in Brisbane). To all others who have written me, THANK YOU! I promise to be a better correspondent in 2013. Happy New Year! -- Jim in Oregon |
