Small Towns to find work??

I'm Currently in Melbourne, I'm here on a working visa, as I'm not really a city girl at heart I was wondering if anyone could suggest to me any small towns or places that would be easier to find work? I'd ideally like to work as a deckhand or in a project somewhere but I'm pretty open. I'd like to do something a bit 'different' and paid as my volunteering days are on hold until i top up the bank balance. If anyone could give me a place to research I'd be really grateful! Thanks!
