Hi all! Finaly I've been able to register on the wiki and make the changes that I was supposed to do 2 month ago! If you have time please have a look and tell me what you think of it! The changes have been done on these parts: 3_ What is the difference between a rural and urban couchsurfing experience? 4_ Expectation of Host 5_ Expectation of Surfer 13_ Rural couchsurfing – guidelines for hosts 14_ Rural couchsurfing – guidelines for guests Here is the wiki: http://wiki.couchsurfing.com/en/Rural_CouchSurfing Here is a copy of the previous wiki to see the changes: http://baptou.voyage.free.fr/CS/ruralcswiki.htm *Update* and Moving Forward
*Update on Rural Couchsurfing* After a lot of non-communication, miscommunication and finally effective communication with the Leadership Team it seems as if they are not interested in pursuing Rural Couchsurfing. Rather, they want to change the search to look outside city centers in a radius of between 5 and 20 km. This may help identify people living outside the center but does nothing to distinguish between people living in suburbs and people living in a rural setting. Baptou and myself are not interested in working with the Leadership Team on this initiative and would instead like to do something like the family welcome group. We will now outline the path we would like to take forward. First, launch few beta version of rural CS groups for country (like Rural CS France or Rural CS Australia already existing). Then invite people living in rural areas to joins thoses groups. --> Here is where we participation from everyone! We need to post messages on country, regional and local groups to raise awareness about it, as well as contact individual Rural hosts to tell them about it (most of them might not belong to any group). So we have to to use the couchsearch and look for rural hosts, sort them from non rural hosts and contact them! This is the hard part of the job but it's worth it! At the end we can include Rural hosts on a map like the family welcome map http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=nl&msa=0&msid=111108041083507430561.0004505bbf5463b2ff1da&ll=8.407168,7.03125&spn=162.214726,360&z=1 This would make the search for a rural host pretty easy. But... We need you! *If you want to start a Rural Cs group for your country please contact Baptou if you want to do it in Europe or Taylor if you want to do it in the rest of the world. We will help you and advise you. *If you want to be the creator and editor of a global rural CS google map, please contact us too to know how to do it. So now Rural Couchsurfing is in your hands! Let us know what you think! -Taylor and Baptou ps. I dont think either of us are google maps masters, but I think we can figure out the technology... |
