The Member Disputes & Safety Team helps members resolve their disputes and provides for member safety on an ongoing basis.

This is a publicly viewable group which will contain policies and public information regarding member disputes and safety on CS. Only team members will be in the group however we are currently seeking ways of getting member feedback integrated - please be patient, and contact Rachel directly with ideas.
The Safety team on Couchsurfing is a very small group of highly involved volunteers who have proven their neutrality and compassion in handling member issues on Couchsurfing. We are dedicated to member privacy. We are not the police, but we can help you to work out your differences with members should you need some advice. For any particular issues, PLEASE go to http://www.couchsurfing.com/contact.html and choose "Problem With Member to file a complaint.

The joining process for this team involves nomination by team members, and then an assessment period in which we unanimously decide on 3-4 members to bring onto the team, This is done because it's a challenging volunteer position, and team members must be in support of one another & be able to collaborate well. It also allows us to remain open-minded on who may make a good team member by allowing the entire team to have a say. It's a difficult way to get onto a team, but has served the MDST extremely well.
We only add 3-4 members every several months in order to train new members fully prior to adding more members.
