Laurence Carrier-Desjardins

It was a real pleasure meeting Laurence in Sarajevo, she was very welcoming, accomodating and quite helpful! It's not every day that you meet someone from your hometown halfway accross the world, so it was good fun going out in the city and talking about our own experiences in familiar Quebec language ;) I wish her the best of luck in her future projects in The Hague!

Laurence is a force of nature. Somehow she can run 10 km, bake a cake, cook a fabulous dinner, write a paper and go out dancing in the same time it takes me to walk home from work. She is sweet, smart and funny, and if she were a man I would probably jump her.

 

She helped me on the last minute when I was going to Sarajevo. A great host and a very interesting person. I felt directly into the expat scene of Sarajevo, which was pretty fun :) Anyway, thanks so much for everything and tell the owner of your apartment that Charlie said 'hi' hehehe

we met in sarajevo , we shared few hours but i should admit that she is very friendly , funny and open to craziness :)

 

Laurence was kind enough to reply to my outcry for a couch on the Sarajevo group for my last-minute trip to Sarajevo (I decided to visit Bosnia that day before). We exchanged phone numbers and met in town, went for a hike with Kelly, who she was hosting too, partied and danced into the night. She even went out into the rain to fetch breakfast the next morning. And then she left for holidays in The Netherlands, leaving her place for Kelly and me. She is very trustworthy, a brilliantly open, kind, outgoing, very easygoing girl. Quite crazy too, in a good way. :-) I couldn't have a better time in Sarajevo. Thanks! I hope my manliness survived your apparently scrutinous observations (according to Kelly). Welcome anytime in Zurich!

Lau is an amazing girl. We had a beatiful time in Sarajevo, but be prepared, maybe she will take you to a party with a grill animal head as main atraction, but you now, cultures are cultures! For sure you will have fun and a delicious greek salad!

Laurence, the person who, just might, has a better taste in music than me! The person who makes you eat a healthy lunch for once! The person that gets to enter posh clubs simply by flashing her shoulders! Need I say more? She's damn smart and funny too! A truly great person!

I met Laurence at Ghazie's in her birthday and pirate party. She was one of the most dangerous pirate in that party and .... she has been very active in the CS community in The Hague last year, a pity I could not met them earlier.

Laurence is keenest and maniacal couch-surfing host I've met. I remember her telling me there were people at her house pretty much every single weekend, something I found out while surfing with Judy, her room-mate.

I'm glad to have had her stay in my house - and show her a bit of the Dam.

I met Laurence at one of Ghazi's famous parties. Yes she's a party-chick!! ;-) She's an interesting, open-minded person. Always nice to talk to her at a meeting or a party.

 

"If i was a boy"...then Laurence was just the perfect women; good looking, smart and a sense of humor. Hopefully we gonna meet again, lets dance !

 

Laurence has an amazing trackrecord from CS. Regardless of that, it was my leasure to host her and her Quebecki travel mate as they both have a great sence of humour and open minds (and they cook and wash dishes) good luck in the Hague!

Meeting you at that pub has, no doubt, been one of the many highlights of my move here to Holland. You are not only beautiful, intelligent, ridiculously funny... I could go on, but, I value most, your passion for life. You know how to ENJOY every facet of your life, finding even a reason to laugh when events may not go your way. You're an example, let me tell you! You're my Indie music, partner in crime and I look forward to a lifetime of friendship with you! I am grateful you are in my life Laurence, really (Now, if only I could pronounce your name as beautifully as you do!)

To begin, we took a trip to the grocery store. For me, anything that involves food right off the start is bound to be great! I appreciated the thoughtfulness and inclusion in the meals, visits...ice cream. I felt very comfortable from the second I walked in the door. Merci beaucoup!

I absolutly loved staying with Laurence, even though she was so busy she still made time to get to know me and tell me about herself which was so generous. Very refreshing to meet such a genuine beautiful personality while travelling. It made my whole trip so much better to meet someone like her. I hope i can repay the kindness when she comes to Australia !

As a guest, host, and party planner, Laurence is incomparable! I'm so glad she came to Boston... and hosted me in Quebec... and organized a big weekend in Montreal... and keeps coming back to Boston! She's an open, friendly, curious, and smart woman, she's good at talking AND listening, and she is always full of surprises. I'm glad and lucky to meet up with her in whatever country we happen to be in!

 

We met in Boston, on a CS party, got to chat a little, to laugh a little too, which proved to be really hard work, considering how serious the self-acclaimed queen of the world is ;-) Seriously, it was fun to meet her, bad luck, we only had so little time to talk, but I'm looking forward to seeing her again when she made her move to Europe.

Laurence is the motivation for me signing up for couch surfing! She is lovely and very affectionate! She is The Grand Fromage!

Laurence was the perfect host during our stay with her in Quebec City--both extraordinarily gracious and entertaining! She and her friends were kind enough to take us to a great local bar, despite having to work the next morning, and the accommodations were totally convenient and comfortable. And her cats were quite hospitable as well :) Hope we get to hang again-

She was such a warm host to what was otherwise a frigid, slushy, god-awful arctically cold weekend. You see the weekend itself was cool, and..wait I'm getting confused. She was cool, the weather was cold, get it? So anyway, I'm so glad I got to stay at her place for Québec's big 400, learn how to sing about Tunisia, and break my poutine virginity. I got a good tour round some of the town and had myself taken care of by a true couchsoeurfeuse. She had a bunch of other surfers and had to do some reading, understandably, so I'm hoping to get to know her more during, oh, let's say a BOSTON INVASION!! :-)

 

I always had an insane attraction to lawyers... I don't know what, maybe because my father is one of them..... Oedippe syndrome :P No kidding, she is great... she deserve her ambassador status and even more..... Tsarina of CS, imperatress of all of us.... Laurence you have my loyalty :P

Let me enterntain you!! She could sing that song! Or she could just simply sing "Tunesiaaaaaa!". If you are someday in a depressive mood just meet her, you just can't be sad anymore. Some people talk without saying anything intersting, she talks like a waterfall and you just hope that it'll keep on going as she is simply hilarious!! :o)

Laurence est une personne extrêmement sympathique. Elle a un entrain et une énergie incomparables. On peut discuter de tout et de rien comme si ça fait des années que l'on se connait. En sa présence, on se sent bien et en confiance instantanément.

 

It was a great pleasure to finally meet Laurence; the CS heart of Quebec city. I heard a lot of positive things about her and it seemed to be true: she is fun, a bit crazy, very generous of her time, even if she is very busy, but so authentic and everybody who met her would say the same as me: we love her that way!

Laurence hosted us at the last moment, which was awesome...but then I realized that though I thought i was free i am in fact just a slave in her evil empire...all the things you learn while traveling!

Due to bad timing we didn't see very much of Laurence but in the short time we had she managed to fulfil my craving for pizza and carrot cake! Laurence is a great host and it is a shame we didn't get to hang out more but I hope we get the chance to meet up again when she come to Europe

Laurence is astonishingly sweeter than her tooth. She let us stay in her flat even though she was heading off for the week-end so we missed out on the full Laurence experience. But we still managed to squeeze in some culinary delights and were pleased when she survived the moose hunters of montreal. Anyway Laurence is a super nice girl and a pleasure to meet and spend time with

 

Laurence is a blast: open, engaging, and full of multi-lingual delicious tidbits. An excellent organizer and hostess, a party princess, and an all-around dreamboat. Someday, darling, we road trip. It will be so. Oh yes. It will be so.

Such a funny, enjoyable and courage girl! Easy-going with strength for getting anything. Charismatic, enthusiastic and simply lovely.

From sightseeing to gay bars to amazing conversations Laurence was there though and through. She is everything that I had hoped for and more!!! I had been waiting for a long time to meet Laurence (as she is very good friends with my rommies) and she exceeded all of my expectations. There's not enough words to describe how funny this girl is. She's always ready to party, have fun and show her crazy belly-dancer moves. Laurence is also a great organiser (Boston Invasion : was just amazing). I am so looking forward to see her again it's just a blessing to be in her company.

I lived at Laurence's apartment in Quebec city for 4 days and tortured her lovely cats. She made me feel really comfortable and so my first experience as a couch surfer was a big success! She is such a good cook! Visit her and taste her delicious meals!

 

I clean her dishes, I hoover our flat. I let her dream about my sexual life and I comment on her love stories. Laurence is the one who washes the bathroom and makes me discover some new music. She tells me I'm beautiful when a guy breaks my heart and she takes care of my couchsurfers when I'm too tired. She's funny, she's loud. She's irresistible, she's wonderful, she's perfect. I lover her to death. I never tell her enough how much I love her.

 

My first experience in CS was at Laurence's place for the québec city gathering and that was amazing ! thank you I am an CS addict now ! she knows how to host people and she's full of ideas for organize partys ! see you soon !

Laurence was a lovely host in Quebec. She offered to share a ride with me back from Montreal and wasn't put out at all by me staying an unexpected extra night. She also made the greatest dinners with whatever the contents of the fridge were at the particular moment!

staying at Laurence's place in Quebec was one of the best couchsurfing experience I had this summer, and not only because she named her cat Jacques Chirac! All the "Quebecoises" things we've done (or eaten!) with her have been great times thanks to her good temper and her sense of humour!

 

Laurence's personality lights up a room with her stories and her laughter. she is great at planning a perfect tourist excursion: ferry ride, ice cream, local farmer's market and a delicious meal with lots of couch surfing friends visiting or living in quebec city.

 

I surfed her Quebec home (the famous CS Hostel together with Mme. Judikaelle) and tried to find out more about her world domination plans but she was still too exhausted after an apparingly tough week-end, she even refused a Blanche de Chambry... so she remains as enigmatic as interesting!

 

Had a fun time at Laurence's. She was at the end of hosting pretty much every couch surfer in Canada simultaneously. I had fun entertaining myself in QC during the days and then had fun chatting with Laurence in the evening about music, movies and the meaning of life! She also has the best cat names ever!

Laurence is a generous and gracious host. She kindly took me and the other Spaceship crew members in on short notice when we began the first leg of our trip to the Atlantic coast. We then met a week later in PEI - crazysexycool small world!

I would not stop reminiscing about the awesome trip I took in the spaceship back in July and one of the most memorable moments was meeting Laurence on separate occassions (but within a week and a half!) surfing her place in Quebec City and having lunch together out in Charlottetown. Laurence is definitely a strong proponent to prove CouchSurfing does not create temporary friendships, but ones that last a long, long time. And for that, I think she well-deserves my two-thumps up (vouch) =)

Laurence and Judi hosted us for two nights in Quebec. We had a great time at her place, having BBQ, eating unbelievable ice cream whatching the store in front of the house... We really enjoyed the time at this place!

 

Laurence, Sammy Davis Jr. Jr. and Jacques Chirac (the later two being wonderful cats) are the greatest party hosts! She may be the no. 1 host in Quebec, but she's still the most open and generous person. Hope to have more occasions to see you!

I was housekeeping her appartment and fed her cats for the time she was in Montreal. As you can see, she is a really open minded, easy going, humorous and phantastic woman who knows how to light up the bbq.
Laurence is one of that great people, the world needs more of.

Laurence was an awsome host and even let us stay despite the last minute contact and us arriving at her place when she was already asleep. She's a very fun, energetic girl who you can easily have an amazing conversation with. Hope your travels in South America go well. Keep up the dutch!

 

I only stayed for one night at her place but we had a lot of fun. We tried some putin and loved it. Then we went to an Irish Pub and had some beers. I had a great time. She's awesome.

 

She is such a great and kind person! She must have plenty of energy for being such an active couchsurfer. It is so easy with Laurence: She is a very spontaneous girl and I like this! She is very energetic, with always something to do. You can not be bored with her. after couchsurfing with laurence, i feel like i just met a woman about to conquer the world! ...and i learned from her that you can do that and be a terrific human being all at the same time. she's outgoing and fun loving, kind and generous, smart, smart-funny or just funny, and made my experience of quebec (city) a wonderful one!

I first of all knew Thorax, and with the passing of years I was pleased to meet Laurence... Punctuated rich discussions of laughter, which leaves place with the depth... A person to be discovered!

Laurence is really a reference in CouchSurfing in Quebec City and probably in the whole province. I actually wonder where she can find the time to do that, I guess both her door and her heart are always open for new people ! She's a young lawyer with all the knowledge and without the bragging type personality we usually associate with lawyers. She's really someone I'm happy to know.

Laurence seems to like being around people. people seem to like being around laurence. I am one of the people.

Laurence let me into her apartment and didn't bother to kick me out! She is a great person to spend time with, and is always willing to have some fun - even with an abnormal workload on her shoulders.

We met in the mai gathering of Qc. We had a lot of fun, specially with a wallpaper of beckam and her special job group. Ask her!!!

 

The Quebec City Queen: It's taken me days to formulate the correct reference for Laurence. Laurence has this beauty about her. You see it superficially when you first meet her, then you begin to feel how deep it goes as you are around her more. Her presence can warm a room, and so can her 'unemployed pudding' (which is mouthwatering). She knows who she is, she is strong, she tolerates my horrible driving directions, and she makes me laugh, which is probably what i like most about her. There is no doubt I will see more of her - the sooner, the better.

Laurence is amazing; she is an inspiring, generous, and interesting person. The hospitality she showed me for the time she hosted was uncanny. She is great company smart and fun,. How can I ever repay such kindness? she should have a motorcycle or a small country named after her.

 

If you get to surf Laurence couch you are very lucky! She is great! She really bent over backwards to help Morgane and I with our time in Quebec we are very thankful for everything and hope that someday in the future we can meet again. Merci! Thank you!

Laurence is a warm and funny person who immidietly made us feel welcomme in her home that she share with two cute cats! She was very generous and easy to get to know, and she is a great cook. She also brought us to a Quebec CS meeting where we meet some other wonderful hosts and surfers. Wish we could have stayed longer, but hopefully I will be back someday!

 

We stayed two days in Laurences house, and that were two of the best days of our travel till now! She is so much fun! The first night I didn't feel so well, and she was so nice to me! The other evenings we had much fun in going for a beer and chatting a lot. I really recommend to surf Laurences couch if you visit Quebec city! (her couches are really comfortable by the way ;) )

It is awesome how nice, tolerant, spontanious and open minded Laurence is...!
Staying at her place can be: meet 3 or 4 other couchsurfer from different countries,spent a interesting night at a nice bar, have spontan a "dinner party" with 7 people or charing lots of conversations...
you won t feel like stranger at all...it feels like beeing a part of a big family, where she is THE AUNT that everyone knows and hold it together.

After a few meetings I got an idea of how fun and funny Laurence is. We have some "tastes" in common, like jazz music, mouhaha!

An ok trip for work was made into an amazing experience by getting to stay with Lau in Quebec city. Lau taught me about Francaphons and introduced me to some cool people. I felt totally at home. Thanks babe and see you sometime in the future!

Laurence was a great host to me Carlijn and Paula. She made us feel realy welcome and took us out and showed us a great time in Quebec city, she is a great person and i think everyone should take the time to get to know her!

 

Sarah and I are very thankful to Laurence for her hospitality. We felt very welcomed in her apartment and she made us feel right at home. She definitely embodies the CS spirit and what good hosts are all about.

Although she was a little sick, she let us couchsurf with her so we didn't have to sleep in an igloo :)

 

I only stayed one day with Laurence, not enough time for sure :) Still, we had a great time, and enjoyed a wonderful dinner with Carole and Benoit who stayed at her place at the same time. Had a great time talking with her and she really makes you as comfortable as possible. Moreover her cats confirmed the quality of my backpack, giving it the hardest crashtest ever :)

 

We were presented by someone we both hosted, she seems nice and on her way to be Canada's host number 1 :-)

 

Lawrence is a keen couch Hostess. It's turned to be professionalism :-) I wish you be a Surfer some day and should you decide that, you know, my door is always open.

 

Spent 3 days with Laurence and two other Couchsurfers. We went out and saw some traditional Quebec nightlife, had Laurence spoil us with her cooking, and enjoyed the company of her lovely cats. A fun experience :)

Laurence is an awesome couchsurfing host. We were totally spoilt and we loved every minute of it. We had a fantastic time in Quebec, and it would have been nice if we could have stayed on longer. The two cats are just gorgeous (and a little crazy...). You cant get a better host than Laurence thats for sure!

Laurence is a great girl! I initially contacted her because I was coming to Quebec and was hoping she could show me around or something and basically be a friendly face and someone I could call if I needed help once I arrived. We met up for dinner and it was great. It was nice to talk about family, and traveling, and sports...especially soccer! She is really really nice and I will definitely keep in touch!

I slept one night at Laurence's with a friend. It was very cool... She showed us a bar in Quebec we didn't know and oh, "Fuck the Queen", you gotta taste this beer ! At 5 am expect to find a sweet cat purring near your hear, looking for caress ;), give some and you will sleep again quietly. Thanks for all Laurence !

Laurence's cats will not be forgotten, mainly due to the fact that halfway through the first night I realized I was totally allergic to 'em. She will also not be forgotten, as it really surprised me what a high degree of trust she put in us, even after just having met us. Despite having not kissed me, she is still an OK person.

Unfortunately we didn't get to spend that much time together, yet she trusted us and gave us full freedom in her place. I can't believe she put up with our crzy night out in Quebec without having a heart attack!

although I didnt get to see her a lot, she was kind enough to shelter me and my 2 fellow travellers for 2 nights. we had a good time with her and i feel sad we didnt have more time to chat and party. ps: her cats are just lovely...and i havent tortured them...

 

First surfing experience and it was really cool! She came with us everytime she could and shown some very good places around. Good fun! Thank you Laurence, see you on the road!

Laurence was so welcoming from the moment we met her. We enjoyed spending time with her going out and having lots of laughs. She also makes a mean fondue, so be warned. We wish her all the best in her future travel plans(wherever they take her) and hopefully we will meet somewhere around the world in the future.

Within less then a minute Laurence obviously shows to be a very social and both interested en interesting girl. Within five minutes it felt as if I knew her for ages! She seems to be the kind of person who dares to ask direct and personal questions. Maybe it was because of the time of the year, but anyway; she made me think about life and I really appreciate that in people! With Laurence around, there's no way to get bored!

My first time in Quebeck city... great host. Laurence gave me tips what to see in city, and I manage to left all of them at home... lucky me ;)

Laurence gave me my first experience with Couch Surfing. It was awaesome. She was a friend from the word 'go' and I didn't once think of her as a host. We celebrated my birthday in Quebec style. Definetly a birthday to remember.

Just feel I am really lucky. All the people I met from couch-surfing are really nice. Of course, Laurence is one of them. It is a pity that during this Christmas time, Laurence was a bit busy so we didn’t have much time to hang out a lot. However, whenever we were together, we always had nice chatting.

The beer night in the pub (sorry, I don’t know how to spell the name of the place) was great fun except that we had different opinions on what a handsome guy should be like. hahahah ;-) Lets continue the discussion when you come to China, okay? hahaha... Thank you Laurence!

I never would of imagined being swept away to my memories of Europe as I wandered the streets of this city, drinking pint after pint, and running around searching for food on a cold winter`s nite. Her hospitality is unbeatable... as for Jacque (the cat)watch out - he tries to steal kisses. Thank you for a very fun night.

Laurence hosted a million (read: 60+) couchsurfers on a friday evening at her home for the CS Gathering in Quebec. Extremely generous, she's also highly energetic and always sporting a smile! I look forward to hanging out more with her.

 

Laurence is a wonderful person and also very funny (her cats also!). I enjoyed staying at her place for one night and, the next morning, helping preparing a breakfast for ten. It was a short trip to Québec, but I have only good «souvenirs»!

Cool enough to invite a gathering in her flat she did a great job. Always smily and open minded she does talk about everything to everyone and have a contagious energy to spread around!

First time I met her she was a great host, and we managed to spend some time together (busy girl). I just saw her for the second time while I was at GnR, and "great" is not enough to describe her, she hosted an amazing party at her place, we were easily around 50 couch-surfers, we all had good times getting to know each others. Thanks for the gathering! I will always try to get to see you in future trips to Quebec.

Who would let 50 people get into a small (well ok, not TOOO small) appartement!? Loads of fun with Laurence and such a warm person. Great to have discussion with because she certainly isnt shy to say what is on her mind! Makes the best debates by far! Oh and jesus... Make sure you are well rested before going head to head with her in a contest, otherwise she'll definitely give you a beatin! We didnt win this time, but we will next time!

That was our first CS experience, and she made us feel very comfortable even if we were 10 CS. She always smile and make us smile too with a hot, smooth and tender piece of banana bread!!! Because of her, we will be active CSs

Who would name a cat after Jacques Chirac? Who would start dancing alone with no decent beat in the air? Well, it has to be Laurence. First, we met at Michael Franti's show . A few weeks later, she was my host and a fellow organizer during the Quebec City meeting; everyone seems to have had a blast during these crazy 48 hours. She's a funny, relaxed host who has a little something for Dave Matthews. I can't wait to meet up with her again in future meetings!

 

Laurence, is a very nice person with a good sense of humor. Laurence and Nancy brought me to their favorite Irish pub where we had a good moment.. and taste a good beer. Youre the nicest lawyer I-ve met !

Laurence and I went to The Cat Empire concert and we went out a couple of times. She is a fun person, very positive, who enjoys life! We use to go out at our favorite pub and try to escape from ¨we know who¨ I always have good times with her and there's no doubt she could be the best host you can have. God! I still have this annoying song of MeatLoaf stucked in my head!!!

She can't stop talking, she can't stop dancing, and don't even dare laughing at her "purse" (if you can call it that) or she'll hit you. That makes her really, really cool, doesn't it? You are sure to have a good time with Laurence, she's as friendly as friendly can be, as nice as nice can be and as pretty as pretty can be. Hope to see her again soon! :)

I only spent one night at Laurence's place, but I feel it was enough to let me realise that she is a very kind and interesting person. Her open mind and interest for other cultures surely tells me that she has the Couchsurfing profile!!

Laurence and her amazingly entertaining cats were a joy to spend the Thanksgiving weekend with! We had some wonderful dinners and discussions about life and travel. So easy to talk to and fun to be around!

As for The Aristocrats... well that's just good clean entertainment.

Laurence is a very friendly and cool girl ! I am glad we met ! She also has 1 cat named Jacques Chirac !!

First of all she answered very quickly for my request and she was very helpful from the begining. I had to change my arrival date which was no problem for her at all and she tried to organize her every-day life in order to be able to meet me when i arrived. In spite of the cold she showed me around, told intresting things about her city. We had a few drinks and a really nice conversation, she's very cheerful. In one word, had a great time and it was a pleasure to meet her! Thank you Laurence, the king of ...! Ask her what! :-)

 

Exploring Quebec City would have been only half the fun if we couldn't have stayed on her couch! Thanks to the Poker game (they had the home field advantage!) I got to knew unemployed pudding, which proved that they are great cooks, too. That weekend was awesome, even with Jacques Chirac chewing my toes...

 

Staying with Laurence was really great. She introduced us to her favourite pubs and tv soaps, and most of all, her two funny-named cats. Oh, and the Canadian Maple Dessert that she made was great :-)
