Couch Available: Maybe Preferred Gender: Any Max Surfers Per Night: 2
Shared Sleeping Surface: No Shared Room: Depends I live near Manipal Hospital, off Airport Road (that's *NOT* near the current airport). This is east of central Bangalore and close to Indiranagar and Koramangla. There is a decent amount of public transport around, if you would like to use it.
You'd get your own room. The only options as of now are a single futon or sleeping bags on the floor.
I leave for work pretty early on weekdays, so it might be convenient if you are an early riser too. I don't know the city very well myself, so won't be able to give advice about getting around, nor will I be able to show you around... we could of course explore the city together.
It is absolutely essential that you read my profile before requesting me for accomodation (say "Wien" in your message to show me that you have), and have a completed profile yourself-- I like to host potentially interesting people who'd like to make friends with me rather than just getting a free place to stay.
I prefer hosting for 1-3 days and would like to be contacted 4 weeks to 2 days in advance.
No shows without an explanation would invite immediate negative references.
I AM NOT LOGGED ON FROM THE US, THOUGH THE PROXY AT WORK MIGHT MAKE IT APPEAR SO. Friends (108)

Personal DescriptionI have moved to Bangalore in April 08, after spending close to a decade in Europe. Thus, I'm currently trying to settle in, figure my way around, explore the city and all the stuff that it has to offer, make friends etc etc.
I am interested in a lot of things, and more than willing to develop newer interests too. I like meeting new people and making friends, learning new things, exploring new cultures etc. Some of the comments of my guests and hosts are pretty insightful and sometimes flattering... check them out for how people perceive me.CouchSurfing ExperienceNew to BangCS, though I have hosted a lot of people in Vienna through CS and HC, and occasionally met up with and showed others around. I used to be a City Ambassador for Vienna for a while, but "resigned" recently as my work pressure got a bit too high, and I was be moving anyway.
I have also stayed as a guest with very friendly people from CS and HC during trips to Greece (May 2005), Paris and Tours (June 2006), and Berlin (Dec 2006), Innsbruck (2007). InterestsI have a wide range of interests-- science, reading, movies, hiking, nature, photography, travelling, music, cooking...and most of all, stimulating discussions about almost anything under the sun... I love chatting, discussing (or even arguing) about stuff ranging from philosophy to politics and international affairs, literature to science, culture to passions, cinema to psychology, history to logic. PhilosophyWalk in the other person's shoes to see where it pinches. If more people did that, the world would be a much friendlier place. I am also quite an incorrigible optimist.
Music, Movies, BooksI used to be addicted to books. A random list of authors I like would include Somerset Maugham, Guy de Maupassant, Hermann Hesse, Thomas Mann, Oscar Wilde, P.G.Wodehouse, Daphne du Maurier, Tennessee Williams, Jules Verne, Isaac Asimov, R.K.Narayan, Salman Rushdie, Mary Renault, Allan Hollinghurst and many many others.
Movies: I like movies with good/powerful acting, good direction, and especially a good plot. I love movies that makes you think. A *really* random list: A Streetcar Named Desire, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, American History X, Fight Club, Primal Fear, Shakespeare in Love, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, The Usual Suspects, Mulholland Drive, Das Experiment (German), Hundstage (Austrian/German), almost anything by Satyajit Ray (mostly Bengali), Wilde, Another Country, Head On, Urbania, Broken Hearts Club... and many moreTypes of People I enjoyI like people with a good sense of humour, people who can appreciate the little things of life, people who are spontaneous and open-minded. Unlike many people, for me friends don't have to have identical interests: while it is great to discuss and enjoy common passions, it is equally interesting, fun, and often more informative to talk to people with different interests.Teach, Learn, ShareScientists often live in ivory towers, thinking that their science is either uninteresting or incomprehensible for non-scientists. In my experience that is not true, and I am always happy to discuss my science, concepts of genetics, cloning, genetically modified food etc with non-scientists. I am also interested in a lot of things, and have experienced different cultures which I am very happy to share. One Amazing Thing I've Seen or Donediscovered HC and CS! ;-))Opinion on the CouchSurfing.org ProjectThis website (and others like this) is a fabulous concept, they really help to make the world fold up into a small place and makes travelling even more fun that it already is!Locations TraveledTRAVELED: France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom LIVED: Austria, Germany, India WANTS TO GO: Egypt, Pakistan, Russia, Turkey References

We were trying to get my American friend introduced to Indian linguistics and history with the help of the huge Indian map he has in his apartmment :). His curiosity about the world, and his ability to share his own knowledge and opinions made for the kind of wonderful conversation in which time is easily lost. Not to mention he's a caring, sensitive host. I felt right at home.
From Gareth and Mel Hockings Eden, Australia Apr 10, 2007 Positive Ady was a brilliant host. As we only had one full day in Vienna he gave us an amazing 5 hour tour of the city and introduced us to his friends and other couchsurfers. We only wish we could have spent more time with him.

Ady was our night guide in Vienna. He showed us Vienna by night, he knows a lot about the city, he has even planned how to guide us so that the monuments would be more impressive. We exchanged ideas on life, on our cultures, while we take a rest in the red couches of the museums quarter. He is an intellectual, knowing a lot about life, nice and polite person. One of the first things he asked was how Turkish people were feeling about the recent literature nobel prize going to Orhan Pamuk! He gave us a lots of tips for our planned visit to India. Ady, you always have a couch in my city!

From Maria Demesticha Athens, Greece Oct 29, 2006 Positive We met with Ady in the centre of Vienna a few days ago. He showed us a bit of Vienna by night (which is great by the way) and we had some interesting chats about life, India and Greece on the confortable red "constructions" made on the court of MQ under the stars. He is a really nice and polite person; for once more I realise how similar Greek and Indian people are. He knows a lot of things from history and politics and he motivated us for visiting India! A really nice person; hope we can welome you in Greece (again) or Istanbul!

From Manolis Polychronides Athens, Greece Aug 28, 2006 Positive Ady was a guest with many good traits and a very bad one ;) He was kind, and friendly, and open minded, and realxed, and educated, and discrete BUT he stayed for only one day... Maybe next time or whne I come to Austria :)
From Daniel De Vidi Treviso, Italy Aug 8, 2006 Positive I feel like a pity to not have spent the right amount of time with Adi.
With Heike and Antoine, I talked with him in the early moments after the welcome from Mike and Raine and as soon the first words came out, revelead his deep and wonderful peaceful soul. Again, I hope to see you soon, maybe in Vienna that now it seems not so far, at least, from our hearts! Namaste! (touching my palms) :)
From Serena Lepori Florence, Italy Aug 7, 2006 Positive I was lucky enough to be accepetd by Ady as guest during our weekend in Vienna. he's a great guy and really interesting to have a conversation with. It is true what other guests have said, he knows more about your country than you.. His greatest quality is curiosity. he's got an hyperactive mind that is always hungry for knowledge and you should be lucky to share something with him.. One of the most considerate and attentive persons I have met so far
From Promitheus Norwich, United Kingdom Aug 6, 2006 Positive at last !! It was really close to travel together with Adi during the spring holidays in southern greece but only a marginal bad timing broke the good intentions. So now that i visited vienna i am very happy having the chance to meet this very nice person!! Cya around :)
From KAOXONI Cologne, Germany Aug 1, 2006 Positive Aditya did whatever he could to give us a good time in Vienna: Show the city at nights, share his books, music, bathroom, shorts, couch, lan, fridge, time and space... He is such a kind and caring host, and he can cook a revelation from scratch. The spice wizard! Ask him for some classical Indian music - here's where you get it... Thank you so much for the shelter, Ady. I'll have to ome back some day.
From JuPasSylArOl Barrés Tours, France Jul 29, 2006 Positive a very nice guy who kept his smiling all the time, even when we didn't find the words in english and looked at him to know his opinion :) was fun, even if we didn't have so much time. hope to see you again!
From Fahad Mir Islamabad, Pakistan Jul 24, 2006 Positive The first person i saw in Einstadt from South Asia. He helped me a lot as it was my very first couch surfing experience in Einstadt and he actually made it easy for me. Great guy.
From DUKE Helsinki, Finland Jul 23, 2006 Positive Ok, Vienna isn't THAT bad, thanks to Ady. In a rather unfriendly place as Vienna, it is such a pleasure to find people like Ady living there. Already an interesting character to chat with at the CS bbq in Linz, he showed just what a fantastic host he is, on my second trip to Vienna. He hosted me and trey for 5 days, and didn't throw us out despite making a mess of his living room! He was unfortunately too busy that week, but he would always find time to talk to us for a while in the evenings, even though he was so tired from cloning sheep all day.
When you are in Vienna, you must meet Ady, trust me, it doesn't get any friendlier than him!
From Kar Zazen Los Angeles, United States Jul 19, 2006 Deep Indian man with no roots. Aditya was rather busy when I arrived but still he made my bed and chat with me. He is deep and sincere. I was very relaxed and comfortable staying at his place. I wish I can talk to him more but my days in Vienna was too short and I didn't get to finish my papers in Vienna. (Keep on my day dreaming!)
From BE_ZEN Antibes, France Jul 19, 2006 INDIAN HOSPITALITY IN VIENNA. I stayed with Ady for 2nights,he was a great host and gave me a lot of useful informations
i was lucky to have met him and his couchsurfing friends
thanks ADY |
