The good:
My suprisingly comfortable couch is a black fold-out queen size futon near Granville & Broadway (a major intersection). My fish & I will host as often as possible. There's no bedtime. There are pillows and blankets. Three days is the maximum stay unless you're amazingly awesome. You are amazing, aren't you? Of course you are. I could tell - it's like magnetism or radar, we just find each other like that.
The bad:
My home office (and computers) are about 10 feet from the futon you'll be sleeping on. They never turn off. It's not a jet engine but it isn't the blessed sweet sound of silence, either.
The ugly:
What's left of my hair, first thing in the morning?

For years my family smuggled vowels out of eastern Europe. That's why they have such a shortage. We do this to atone for our family shame - in pre-feudal japan my ancestors massacred the letter 'L' over an insult to their honor that turned out to be a typographical mistake.
These days I'm all about making things. By the time you read this I will have finished construction on my CNC machine and will be using to build bigger and better robots. That's right... I already have robots. All hail the nerd king!
How I Participate in CS
I participate as much as I can, as often as I can, with all my heart.
My first couch surfing was the night before my last white water rafting trip, in order to get to the pickup point on time. It was a good couch. We watched Fight Club, ate chicken, drank wine, and joked nervously about drowning. My second was with Amy Jackson in New York F'n City. Awesome! Then I surfed in Nanaimo, New York again, and by the time you read this I'll probably already have gone to Seattle and forgotten to update this text.
I was recently interviewed for an article in the canadian (and associated) press about CS. http://tinyurl.com/38kvym
Interests
Burning Man, robots, inventing, stock investing, movies, pushing the envelope, pool (swimming), pool (shooting), sky diving, white water rafting, kendo, rock climbing, rubix cubing, and lots lots more.
Secret mission! In order to let me know that you read my profile, look on Youtube for 'The mother of all funk chords.' Tell me: what chord is it?
Philosophy
Confident, liberal, profiteer, extrovert.
People only grow old while waiting. That's why some 90 year olds act like 30 year olds - they've never had a chance to slow down or lose momentum.
You can't be bored unless you are boring because bored because cannot entertain even themselves.
Music, Movies, Books
Books > Movies > Music but I tend to experience Movies > Music > Books. I also like to watch my goldfish.
Kill TV.
Types of People I enjoy
What, like, with some fava beans? I'm not sure I understand the question.
I like couchsurfers who are funny, dark, creative, and can improvise. If I start a crazy joke and you not only take it in stride but go somewhere new with it you will instantly gain several respect points from me.
Teach, Learn, Share
I want to learn:
- guitar
- hebrew
- sign language
- spanish
I can show/teach you:
- magic tricks (sorry, show only)
- plumbing
- carpentry
- how not to electrocute yourself.
- hypnotism
- shibari
- programming computers
- how to play pool
- how to be a better swimmer
- entrepreneurship
- self promotion
I especially want to network with artists and business people.
One Amazing Thing I've Seen or Done
- I broke my leg skydiving.
- Entered a strip contest knowing I'd lose.
- Remember that thing in the back of the fridge? Ate the whole thing. No, I'm not kidding. Believe me, you don't want to know what it tasted like. I will say this: Fuzzy.
- Broke the laws of time and space. Three years suspended sentence for good behavior.
This summary is not a replacement for reading references; it's a quick summary to help you get started. At a glance, you can see how many references a member has, and how many of them are positive, neutral, and negative.
In the second line, you'll see how many references came from people who hosted this member, surfed with them, and traveled with them. These numbers won't always add up to the total: some references are not categorized, and some may be categorized as more than one thing.
When viewing this summary, don't jump to conclusions! Things that are negative for one person may be positive for another, and vice versa. It's important to read references carefully and evaluate what that information means to you.

and much much more. He is quite the conversationalist and if you find yourself in the same room as him, you will leave with a different outlook on some story or issue or anything that you may have started talking about.
I spent many many hours around this guy in the summer of 2009 and enjoyed every single minute.
We met at burning man and I offered him a peanut butter and jelly sandwitch. I'm still carrying around the couch surfing / burning man poker chip!!

I knew he was cool when I saw his BRC ranger shirt. A game of pool (he won), burn reminisces, stimulating conversation and HE BROUGHT DELICIOUS CAKE. Two thumbs way up for this fella. See you again in van or on the playa!
Dan was a great host. he showed me & my friend around, told us a lot about Vancouver & Canada, went out with us, played board games with us & put up with all of our interruptions while he was working. Thanks for everything Dan!
I surfed Dan's futon with my friend Anna on her cross country moving mission. He gave us lots of good info and we had a great time in Canada. We watched the coolest movie and had great conversation. I'd definitely surf that way again!
We had a wonderful conversation fueled by beer and philosophy.

Dan is a great host and gave us a comfy futon to sleep on and even showed us how to solve a Rubik's cube (something I've never seen done before)! Thanks Dan!
