Born and raised in San Francisco, lived in London & Manhattan the rest - I have been following my passion for Entrepreneurship and Documentary Film. Currently I am shooting www.onecouchatatime.com, a worldwide documentary about CouchSurfing ...SE Asia, Southern Africa, Europe, South America and ending at BurningMan - is the trip I am currently on.
Ever since I could pick up a camera, which was quite a feat in the 80's if you've seen the gargantuan hunks of machinery they would call "video cameras," I wanted to tape the world. As I matured, I realized that it was specifically the medium of documentary film that called to me - because in a world where moments are fleeting and constantly re-written by our subjective memories, I find video documentation can be the purest form of telling a story while allowing people to open their perspectives and walk in each others shoes.

I host, I am a hostee - and am creating a documentary featuring the CS spirit internationally.

A good conversation, funny antidote, capturing a moment on film, exchanging a quirky story, or an eye-opening revelation will always get me going. I find that I enjoy most anything that raises the heart beat: dancing, horseback riding, adventure + combined with a new experience and stimulating people make my day!

Ridiculously hospitable. I rocked up at her doorway, disheveled, jet lagged and ready to keel over and with no space in her apartment she still let me in, found me space to sleep, introduced me to her friends and her life and showed me a fantastic time!!!
Alex is the most amazing person that has an open heart and always has an open door. Great contact for information on traveling and inspiring to be around.
When I first came to the city I knew no one. Or at least no one near where my 3 month long internship was. Alex immediately invited me into her home as a guest and as a friend. Staying here has not just been a "sleeping situation", but also a living one. We go to Zumba classes, comedy shows, and concerts. She lives and breathes the "sharing economy" which has turned me into a complete enthusiast. It's meeting people like Alex Liss that make CS such a great site. If only there was one of her in every country...
Alexandra is great, between here busy schedule she made room for me! Drove me around and had a great time in the evening with friends. Her place is great and all the roommates, yes all are very friendly. Don't think otherwise!

Alex is one of the first people to meet in a new city. She's very friendly, can talk about anything and everything, has the most badass little pup, and is such a good heart to hang out with. That was a long sentence... Sorry to clog up your reference with this babbling. Wait, no I'm not! :)
She's the embodiment of the CS ethos and holds those values close to her, but spreads the love. I can't wait to get back for the film premier!

I have seen the spin of an atom and subsequently harnessed its power. I've seen the birth of stars and their utter obliteration. I have sat idly in the presence of mind boggling complex constructs, unmoved by their actions. I have seen the curvature of the earth and held rocks from other worlds. I have witnessed the birth of children. I can access the collective knowledge of all of mankind in the blink of an eye. I've seen the poor become rich and the rich die penniless. I have seen the seasons turn, and life renew itself.
Of all of these things I've seen and done none of them has yet to hold as much sway over me as the power that is Alex. Meeting her has been literally life changing. I highly recommend that you not only accept her into your home if she requests but you actively search her out and try to get her into your life. I promise that if you're reading this now that you'll thank me for it.
Alex is definitley the most "high-vibration" girl I´ve ever met. It´s not hard to imagine how powerful is the electricity that this "Gemini+SanFran+BigApple" girl has,but she is specillay enthusiastic and confident that I bet she is up to motivate any body, any plant, any animal, with her shinning presence.
