Personal Description

I am me. "Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes"

I have a deep penchant for traveling and the arts. I am fascinated with people who wander, different cultures, those who are different, expression through dance and music, and intelligence.

I am curently on an around the world volunteer trip that is taking me to S. America, East Africa,India, Bali, and New Zealand. You can journey along at www.smallworldpursuits.com

How I Participate in CS

Surfing, hosting, learning...
To help one remember that those who wander are not lost.

CouchSurfing Experience

some of the most interesting people on the planet. well, only sometimes.

Interests

beach, music, theatre, arts, traveling, acroyoga, iyengar, ayurvedic medicinal practices, photography, the beach, sports, hiking, biking, doing anything on the water and anything outdoors,sports- pretty much anything with a board- wake boarding, snow boarding, surfing, sand boarding, not so good at skate boarding, but I did give it a shot, meeting new people, doing things people say you can´t, dancing ,running, reading, learning, sitting in the park, staring at the stars, being lost in translation, random connections, simplicity, fate, live music, being lost only to find your way, artistic expression, finding great non-commercial music, realization, healthy lifestyles, wandering aimlessly with no apparent direction, and being a part of other cultures.

Philosophy

Conserve what you love, educate and inspire, and understand that not everyone is like you. Take advantage of this, and then your lens in which you see the world becomes your greatest tool.

Music, Movies, Books

The Cure, The Who, Credence, The Stones, The Mamas & The Papas, Zeppelin, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Simon & Garfunkel, Frank Zappa, Radiohead,Bob Marley, Jack Johnson, Manu Chao, Francisca Valenzuela, The Doors,The Kooks, Camera Obscura, Donavon Frankenreiter, Janis Joplin, Bright Eyes, Sarah Jaffe, Thievery Corporation, Monsters of Folk, Edwarde Sharp & The Magentic Zeros, The Beautiful Girls, The Morning Benders, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Angus & Julia Stone, Arcade Fire, Chet Baker, God Help the Girl, Mishka, the list could go on and on.
Jazz, Drum Circles, Acoustic, Salsa, Old Country,Indie, Blue Grass, Folk
Books/Authors: authors include Kahlil Gibran, Henry Miller, Edgar Allan Poe, Elizabeth Gilbert, Jane Austen, Gabriel Marquez books include anything on travel, The Blue Sweater, Stones to Schools,The Art of Nonconformity,Pablo Neruda, One Hundred Years of Solitude, Biographies,my list goes on as I read a lot!

Types of People I enjoy

People who are full of compassion, humanity, and have a hunger for life that is contagious. People who I can be educated by, and those that seek out the best in others.

Teach, Learn, Share

A Senegalese poet once said..."In the end we will conserve only what we love. We love only what we understand, and we will understand only what we are taught. We must learn about other cultures in order to understand, in order to love, and in order to preserve our common world heritage."

One Amazing Thing I've Seen or Done

I'm thinking the 98 year old yogi I saw put his legs behind his head in India takes the cake...but fire dancing in the desert as part of the Quechua celebration to la pachamama with my amazing friend Aldo, the chief of the village comes a close second!

Locations Traveled

What do these numbers mean?

This summary is not a replacement for reading references; it's a quick summary to help you get started. At a glance, you can see how many references a member has, and how many of them are positive, neutral, and negative.

In the second line, you'll see how many references came from people who hosted this member, surfed with them, and traveled with them. These numbers won't always add up to the total: some references are not categorized, and some may be categorized as more than one thing.

When viewing this summary, don't jump to conclusions! Things that are negative for one person may be positive for another, and vice versa. It's important to read references carefully and evaluate what that information means to you.

Alisha was kind enough to help me get settled in Bali, and helped me with my onward travel. We later met and hung out on Gili for a couple of days.
She's a very easy person to be around. She's also friendly, funny and interesting! It was really great to be able to share the some lazy days at Gili with her.
Hopefully I will be able to get that Texas BBQ-tour one day :)

I am so lucky that I met Alisha. She is amazing; I learned a lot of things from her since she has so many experiences to share about. Her concern about the marginal people in many countries is really made me touched. Her trip is not about has a long vacation only but it’s also about her journey to make her ‘dream” come true == to help many people around the world with her way. As a CS member, this smart girl is really having well manner and I really recommend you to have the opportunity to catch up or to provide a couch for her. She is not only a good “ambassador” of her country but also of CS. Did I mention already that she is amazing one? :D

When she is not tired, she is generous, friendly, smiling, polite, respectful, mature, honest, a bit of a dreamer.
While when she is tired after sightseeing... is even better!
I will never forget tex mex (my stomach said: "It's still crowded here... next time make it a bit more spicy, just to be sure to kill them all!") and interesting chats! I learnt a lot. Ah, her English is very good :)

Alisha broke my typical European "the loud knows it all Americans" prejudice. She is a thoughtful, sincere and charming person. With honourable pursuit in life which one can take only as an inspiration. I did and I loved her relaxed company ever since I found her in my room by Transimeno lake.

I had the pleasure of showing Alisha around Siena, Italy last week. Even though I was not able to host her myself, we had a fantastic day wandering the streets of the medieval city. She is a professional traveler and has many great stories and tales from her experience in foreign places. After spending just one day with her, I can tell that she is a very good individual and I'd be stoked to cross paths with her elsewhere in the world!

Very positive! She is just too cool to be around here and she decided to go back home and then go to Africa!!!! that summarize how much she travels and how easy going. I saw her dancing and all the good moves she has, putting up with guys stalking her at the beach, and she even sent me some stuff i forgot so i can picked them up while passing by the office in baños in one of my tours!!! i fell like i owe you soooo much.... Great trips for you!

We met Alisha at a children's organization in Ecuador, Banos, where we both were volunteering. I had the complete pleasure working along side with her for 2 weeks, and spent many evenings with her talking about life, philosophy, service and 'men'. We had a blast together and it has been a true pleasure to meet Alisha and now call her my friend. I am certain we'll stay in contact for years to come.
