About Me

CURRENT MISSION

ummm....to take over the world? ok, maybe not...but I want to see it ;)

ABOUT ME

I am not your typical girl. I am more of a tomboy. I am an avid shooter and I like to go to the range and train as well as just have fun. I am a firearms instructor. So, If you'd like to go shooting during your stay, I'd be happy to take you! :)

I like motorcycle racing, working on cars, bikes, and off road vehicles. I like to go fishing and camping when I travel. I enjoy learning new languages and new things in general. I am into photography, painting, graphic design, tattoo design, mountain biking, hiking, going to the gym...let's just say, I'm into a lot of things. I like to keep busy!

PHILOSOPHY

I tend to live as if the world is going to end tomorrow. If something interests me, I will learn about it. I like to have fun and meet new people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted several people and so far, I've not had a negative experience. Everyone here seems to be really cool, super interesting and a ton of fun! I've always had loads of fun meeting people from the site and sharing travel stories and good times! :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had some really fun experiences meeting my hosts and getting to know them. Before I came to Couchsurfing I surfed on many of my friends' couches and now I that I have been traveling again, I have met some great people from the site! :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I like a lot of movies, but I do NOT like chick flicks! I like action, horror, j-horror, martial arts, and international movies. I do not limit myself to English speaking movies. I like to watch movies from around the world.
As far as music goes, I will listen to most things...except for country music...and polka :p I listen to music from North America, Germany, Russia, France, Korea, Czech Republic, South Africa, and Japan.
I like to read mostly true crime and anything with a forensics or military theme.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was able to drive a Formula 1600 race car on the track. Not much tops that for me so far!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can help people learn English in exchange for them teaching me their language.
I can take you to the shooting range if that interests you. I can also teach you some self-defense and survival skills.

If I am hosting you, I can teach you how to throw a tomahawk and build a Native American dreamcatcher :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I enjoy great conversations with hosts and if English is not the main language of the host, I enjoy "trading" languages with them. I also have fun preparing meals from other countries and learning to cook cuisines from other countries. I find that often times, preparing a meal with hosts is a great way to learn more about them and their home country or to learn more about places that they have traveled. I find that in some way, cooking together drops all sorts of barriers, and just creates a relaxing atmosphere as opposed to just sitting opposite them at a table talking...sometimes, that can seem like more of an interrogation than a pleasant conversation lol :p

Having a YouTube adventure with hosts is also super fun! I like to take turns playing music for each other as well as funny videos. It's a great way to pass the time and maybe find some new tunes to add to my playlist! I like a wide variety of music from other countries and in many cases, I got the foreign bands on my list from my host!

Music is a universal language. I find that one doesn't need to speak the language of the band. If you like the song, you like the song. No need to understand the words. Music is also a great way to help learn a language. Find the lyrics, and translate them.

Music helps your ears to learn the pronunciation and in some cases, the proper grammar of sentences...It's almost like learning the difference between learning a language from a language learning program like Rosetta Stone, to learning from a native speaker. I always tell my friends that learning from the software is a good start, but they should not limit their learning to the software. People in real life, do not speak that way. For example, in English, the software will teach you "is not", "will not", "I would like to..." Whereas nobody really speaks like that. We say, "isn't", "won't", and "I'd like to". So, travelers who learned directly from a program are easy to spot. If we know this about those who are learning English, we can conclude that the same can be said about an English speaker learning a new language...nevermind that English speakers learning a new language tend to have a crazy accent...I know I used to. That has improved since I started watching movies from other countries and listen to music from other countries. I also trade languages with native speakers by using language trading websites. In addition, I teach English online to people who think they already speak English lol :p
