Roy was a really super cool dude and I could see him a mile away in his blue cowboy hat! We had a good time hiking out to a cabin... getting eaten alive by mosquitos... taking photos with paddington bear and consuming 2,000 calories worth the milkshakes... Was very glad to be able yo show Roy around my hometown and would be delighted to see him again. easy to talk to and never any dull awkard moments :) Roy's the epitome of a great couchsurfer.. maybe i can meet up with him next time he and I are in Ork land (new zeland)!

 

Roy and I gave out free hugs while his ship docked in San Diego. It was my first free hugs experience, and I had a great time, thanks to Roy (and everyone who gave us hugs)!

Had a great day with Roy chatting about our travels, cultural backgrounds and the cruise ship mentality. We both live in Toronto but somehow met for the first time in the Caribbean. It was a great afternoon sipping Pitons by the sea and taking in the views. I even got a pic taken with Roy's travel companion, Paddington bear. I feel special. :)

Roy was SUCH an amazing couchsurfer to host. Along with his other ambassador buddies, Roy and I adventured around Vancouver together, taking in the sights, sounds, and smells of the West Coast. I'm not sure if he noticed, but wreck beach smells! ;)



I'd say we had a really fun time together. He was the PERFECT guest; always the first to make sure things were cool with me and my roommates. In fact, while he was staying with us, we had several other surfers, and I would say that Roy took hold of every situation and made sure that I had to deal with as little as possible. All in all, he was an absolute joy to have. I totally recommend him, host or surfer alike!

Roy - sorry it's taken me so long. I have been pretty CS exhausted after Burning Man. XO for always - you are welcome back anytime!

 

I had a great time roadtripping up to Toronto and staying at the SHAH with Roy, as well as hanging out with him and other cool people out and about in Toronto and going to his roommates' engagement party. Take care and have fun working on the cruise ship!

Being with Roy was awesome, he is really wise and know a lot about log time traveling and flies and buses deals. We went at the pub and met his friends, it was really cool, such a nice ambiance at the pub, I still remember it very well :) Hope we'll meet soon again!

We were six and we spent two awesome nights at the SHAH! More than a simple house, it is a great way of life... Roy was very welcoming and friendly - we wish he didn't have to work!

Despite the fact we didn't find the time to speak for a long time, Roy was very helpfull and full of goods advices. I learn to know his roomates, it was a great evening. we had a sweet time staying with him and everybody else at the shah. oh, and the plounge is prime!

 

Roy and his housemates took me in and let me stay in the plounge with pretty short notice. While I didn't get the chance to spend too much time with him, he and everyone in the house are interesting, genuinely good, and I felt completely welcomed as soon as I arrived.

Roy has been super welcoming and open to sharing his space and positive energy. The SHAH, which he has helped to create is a fantastic fun community place to be!

without knowing me, Roy invited me to their Halloween party, they were all very very friendly, and i ended crashing at the SHAH for a week!!! there's no word strong enough to describe them, they are the more AWESOME people i ever met!!! we party together, made great food, listen to wonderful music, and more!!! At the SHAH i had the most wonderful time of my life!!! i love these guys!! thank you so much Roy for your friendship and your warmth, i'm so glad i met you guys!!!

Roy is a really good fella. I met him at the playhouse in NY, it was second to none. He´s pleasant and interesting.
I enjoyed his company a lot.

Now I know a great person with the same name like me.

Roy saved our lives by letting us stay in the SHAH, by the way, if you request to crash at Roys place it's not just staying with Roy but also with all his amazing housemates. We had 2 great nights with them: one crazy drum-circle one and another relaxed laid back one. We had fun!

Fun guy to hang out with. Cooks great - just ate what he cooked for tonight! Peace. Always welcome in my house.

Roy is a very relaxed guy with a big sense of humor. 5 hours after meeting it allready felt you known him for longer.

Roy is a bundle of joy. I didn't surf with him but shared a day exploring some gems of pittsburgh and shared a car ride back to Toronto with some excellent conversation. He is a sunny character and i hope to cross paths with him again!

I spent some time with Roy exploring a mattress factory with no mattresses during the 2009 Pittsburgh weekender. Roy is fun, out-going, and easy to talk to (with many stories to share). Great times had by all!

 

roy's not kidding about the free hugs thing - he's an expert. thanks to his 'certified hug lessons', i now know how to hug properly and with feeling. plus he's a sweet as kiwi expat, which is always a plus. he also promised me a CS vouch if only i gave him a piggyback ride back to canada, or my car. basically, roy = good solid fun.

Roy is super fun. When he's awake :) Stayed at my house, came on my church/temple tour, wandered with me at Oktoberfest. Brunch. Great times, I'd host him and any of the toronto crew anytime!!!

Roy is a fantastic and fun person to talk/drink/hang with! He's very open and nice and a great person to have a spherical conversation with. :}

 

Roy has more passion for CS than almost anybody I've met. He is outgoing and friendly and encourages people to be involved with CS more than simply using it for free travel. I met him at a weekender in Pittsburgh.

After gradually getting to know Roy over the past few months and then travelling with him to Pittsburgh recently, it's hard for me to imagine going on a road trip without him that would be as endlessly entertaining as the Pittsburgh weekender. He will make you piss your pants laughing until you realize there's no point even wearing pants anymore.

Roy is a great guy and I felt very welcome and at home. nice quiet residential area. Roy was very attentive in helping me to get organised with the Toronto transit system

Roy was amazing to have on my couch. I'm really glad he pulled so many great people together to travel with. He was such great fun to hang with and maybe next time he'll out drink me ; )

Roy brought a crazy RV full of fun for the night, at first having 7 CSers(and later 8) at my place was a bit more than I'm used to living alone but it was great!! We had some very interesting worldly discussions and it was very interesting meeting an intelligent and well travelled individual like Roy. He has a wealth of knowledge to share and he is very dedicated to the CS programme. Feel free to pay me a visit any time you are in my area.

 

ROY..................What a skurill chap... The RV trip would not have been the same without Roy. Roy was the couch coordinator, teller of bad jokes, great at washing up ; ), Wendy´s fan, Value Village vet, cold soup eater, Walmart wanderer and returner and hole digger. Roy is a honest chap with a good heart. On the trip we had a couple of crossed words, but we both saw the bigger picture. I am glad to have made Roy´s acquaintance.

Roy and a group of other travelers stayed at my place for one night and I had a great time hosting them all. Roy was very nice and I had a great time chatting with him!

Roy is a really great guy, he and Radka were super accomodating of my busy schedule at Pride. Plus their futon is really comfy and their pets are friendly and well trained!

I had planned to stay in a hostel in downtown toronto, i unfortunately didnt realize that the MMVA's would be on, meaning that every hostel in the city would be booked out! I wrote a quick surf request to Roy and he was kind enough to give me a call to say i could stay and then take me to his friends birthday bash, which ended up being a fantastic evening! I can fully understand why Roy is an ambassador for couch surfing! An outstanding guy!

Roy can adapt to any social situation easily, and without changing his behaviors or speech, he's well balanced, easygoing, opinionated and careful.
The strength with which he can defend an opinion while accepting the others openly was appreciated and would be for anyone I think.

Roy is not only an amazing couchsurfer, but he's even an Extreme Couchsurfer! Always lively, fun of energy and ready for any sort of fun, he's a great guy to be around and a dedicated CSer. He is so dedicated in fact that he still coordinates events via twitter from other cities. He puts together a mean pub crawl and not only gives great hugs, but gives them out for free. Roy is a huge asset to the Toronto CS community.

 

Roy almost single-handedly made my birthday the dream that it was - I mean, dim sum after a year of deprivation, as well as free hugs? He and Radka kindly hosted me, giving me tea and a space to crash when the jetlag caught up. I look forward to seeing you again at future CS meet ups!

Roy is a stand up, passionate, enthusiastic soul and caring couchsurfer who goes beyond hes means and often puts his own job on the line for the care of others. In my 4 years as a surfer, never have i seen someone so dedicated to a cause, who isn't afraid to stand up for what he believes in and say whats on his mind. I had a nice relaxing time at his home yet enjoyed some crazy wild times at night. Roy is also a true adventurer to heart and reminds me of my youth when the prospect of a road trip beckons. If my heart was the last remaining place my friends could retreat to before the mighty holocaust, there will always be a space for you my friend. Roy, is my Tequila mix partner, he is a great person, and excellent company, I always so much fun with him, in all aspects. He is hilarious, very, very hilarious.

 

Despite whatever dodgy stories Roy tells, I let my instinct be my guide and let him drive my car. To work. In the harsh Toronto winter. For weeks. His dog even got sick in my car and I was OK with it. If that isn't a testimonial (for both of us!), I don't know what is!

Roy was a part of the Niagara Invasion weekend, he tagged along with Zoubin, Jason, & Andrea who all surfed with me. Roy seems like a really easy-going, interesting, out-going, person. He was pretty much ok with whatever the group seemed to do, and trying to get that many people to all go in the same direction was a bit of a challenge. The phrase 'herding cats' came to mind quite often.
I wish I had more time to chat with him one-on-one and hear some of his couch surfing stories. I will be sure to look him up when I am in Toronto. again.

Roy is only fantastic! He is so much fun to be round always laughing and adding a bit of mayhem to the weekend. He was well up for our crazy drinking antics and even introduced me to 'extreme couch surfing'!! I CAN'T WAIT to meet up with this guy in Toronto! JagerBomb!!!

I met Roy and Radka in a brunch in NYC. It was my first CS experience in NY and it turned out to be great (as expected :P). New Yorkers seem to love Roy and you don't have to wonder why, he's a really pleasant person to be around, honest and has initiative. He also has a really interesting multicultural background having lived in so many countries.

met roy first on the toronto group as i was looking for a room and a job in the city and roy helped me with that. we met again in CS meeting in toronto. roy is really cool, laid back guy which ill probably see many times again in future gatherings

 

Although I arrived past midnight and Roy had to get up early in the morning, he and Radka (and even the dog and cat) waited up for me to give me a warm welcome and took their time to give me some firsthand information about Toronto. I felt comfortable from the first minute and want to thank them very very much for letting me stay at their apartment, even if they are in travel preparations themselves. How sick is that, you meet a guy at a cs-meeting in berlin talk a few words with him and then more than one year later there is that same person standing next to ya in a bar in czech republic and ordering a beer ! Roy, definately a special personality with a big big heart and a lot of party skills. With him you will definately have a blast !! Meeting Ray was once-in-a-lifetime experience - from his cowboy hat, through his T-shirt hand painted for every occasion, to his hiking flip-flops :-) What a pity that he is not around my part of the world anymore...

Roy is positively one of the funniest people I have ever met and I mean it in the nicest of ways. He is very, very congenial, and due to his vivacious nature, it is impossible for him to not be the centre of attention. It’s hard not to recognize Roy in a meeting. Just look for the guy with the big hat! He looks like a Texas guy, but lives in Canada! Roy Is a very funny guy and good person to party around! Roy is a wonderful member of the global CS community and he lives, breathes, and shares the CS spirit wherever he goes.

He's even crazy enough to join me on a spontaneous road trip/invasion to Montreal for a CS BBQ! I learnt on this trip that Roy is a sensitive, progressive and thoughtful person. Great 9hr drive and chat!

You have to meet this guy! You might also want to get a hug from him, apparently he's pretty good at it.

 

Roy came to hang out in NYC for the couch crash festival and I think he came to every single activity! Many people will remember him from pictures taken outside M1-5 without his consent, but he is fun to be around and gave me a great help setting up the events for saturday night.

 

A cool guy who was I last spotted past out on a brooklyn rooftop at the end of the Couch Crash Festival. We got a chance to hang out the whole week and party together. What a blast! Bring your cowboy hat back soon.

Perfect person to have fun with!

 

well well well... what do we have here?! one amazing kiwi dude, isn't he?! camp was fun with him and his consuming game, wasn't it?! let's be serious.. he is adorable and always has smile and hug for everyone(sometimes he hasn't pants)! i said let's be serious! he is a great guy! have a hug from me, will ya?! ;)

 

Ray is a great guy... Not the best at remembering names... But seriously a cool guy to spend and afternoon chilling with... he he...

Roy's excellent. He'd give up everything he owns to help you out. It'll be a shame when he moves to canada, Prague and the... IT business... won't be the same without him! To je pravda!

I have attended some of Roy's goodbye parties. He was adorable. Wish you were staying longer.

A realistic idealist who really cares about the people he meets. He's very extroverted and takes matters into his own hands if something is not moving forward.

We managed to play quite a bit of backgammon variations and drink beers on Roy's neverending returns to Prague. A bit of a social genious.

Roy is a pleasure to be around with. I can say I highly trust him after hearing his stance on a mishap involving what I'll just call a "borrowing of alcohol". Thanks for all the laughs and teaching us the card game!

The king of Prague is sadly leaving us! Great guy, life of the party, the works...

 

We met at a couchsurf meeting in Prague where we briefly talked. He's a nice cheerfull guy.

Roy is a really fun and friendly guy. He loves to travel and make friends wherever he goes. He cheats at bowling, though.

we met in Warsaw on HC camp. he's a great, openminded guy, ready for new expiriencies, always ready for party, one who does not have too much time to be lost for sleeping ;)seems to be a good travel companion for Paddington ;)

This guy has so much energy and friendlyness and manners it's simply impossible not to rely on him.
He's so funny and enthusiastic about REAL couchsurfing and hospitality that he's the perfect person to be trusted.
Magic moments I will never forget during midsummernight's meeting:
Running through the camp 5.00 am in the morning fresh as a rose after a VERY VERY long night, carrying a big pot 30kg of rice on his shoulders for 300m just to feed a bunch of HUNGRY partymaniacs, spending half an hour deciding whether he should jump the bombfire or not proving he's a real man (although a 13 yr old kid already done it 10 times before him!)...

Roy is very strong and helpful- he alone brought food for all the 70 camp members on his shoulders- amazing! :)

What a great bloke! Full of energy, full of comedy, full of crazy ideas and fun fun fun! Taught me the circle of death and also to speak in questions, you will never stop laughing when your around the ROYBOY! Hope to catch up again soon!

 

Hey! This guy is completely in CS and traveling! But that's not it - he is really party animal that can make your time full with laughter and great fun. And I bet he still likes people that tells the same joke 2 times and loves CUBA beer. You should upload that video somewhere:):) Cheers and good luck wherever you'll set up.

 

He's this crazy guy who sold everything so he can travel freely:) He is very enthusiastic about couchsurfing, and it's really contagious. So, if you ever have an opportunity to meet him, just do, you won't regret!

Roy Abraham...the king of Prague CouchSurfing! I've been insanely busy with work this season and haven't made it to many of the numerous CS outings here, but he's definitely on top of things :-) Hate to see ya go, was great hanging out with you guys at Nebe...

Roy is a great guy...you can just watch him and have a lot of fun. He was officially "tentless" at Latvian midsummer camp (Roy, time to organize tent surfing community :) )
Try to offer "CUBA" beer to Roy and watch him cause he hate it...ah, and ask to show his "CUBA" promotional video with Finish "CUBA" admirer :))

 

Sometimes I hate writing stuff about certain people, especially when it's a person like Roy. Meet him, the only thing you'll regret is that you didn't do it earlier...

 

Roy is an open positive man i met him at the Berlin Beach Camp 2007. He kows a lot of interesting stories about the world and his life experience.

roy is the man, teaching english and beach camping it up, somehow he transported half of prague couchsurfers to berlin just to make me sing íts a small world, after all...´

We went for drinks with a large group of people one evening. I had a really nice time talking with him!

We strolled into Prague late one Saturday night and went directly to the Couchsurfing meeting that I think Roy organized. He was one of the many happy faces out that night, but one of the few people that I chatted with.

We met only briefly thanks to our australian CS friends who met more people in Prague than I did in last months:-) It was really funny evening, Roy is a nice guy I would like to meet again.

ROy is a is a lovely guy with the roundest head. He is charming and funny. ALthough not the best at volleyball its quiet a pitty not to meet him!! =) hope to see you soon son!

I met Roy at the BerlinBeachCamp. We played together volleyball and went for the free hugs campaign. Roy is a very sympathetic kiwi. Roy, I look forward to meet you again.

When I arrived alone at the HC Summer Beach Camp in Berlin, Roy was the very first one who welcomed me with open arms ... thus from the first moment I felt connected with this funny and open-hearted guy. Good luck with everything you'll do, hope to see you again sometime...

Oh man, I don't know where to start with Roy. I can surely say that it was great-great-great to get to spend some time together at the Berlin Beach Camp, but how to describe the whirlwind of the camp? Let's just say that it was equally rewarding talking to Roy about the "things that matter" during the day, and partying with him around the campfire by night. Especially that last night. Oh man.

 

Roys a sharp, fun guy. Nice to hang around with and also fun to run around big cities with huging people.

 

Cool and chill guy, having more energy than I do...I just wish I had been able to stay up later to party with him until the early hours.

 

Roy is a really interesting, likeable New Zealander living in Prague. His thoughts and opinions are informed, intelligent and trustworthy on hosting organisations (and a whole lot of other stuff), which means good conversation. Look forward to meeting him again, whether on a Beach Camp, or Leipzig or Prague or wherever else.

Too bad that Roy was a little bit sick, when I surfed his couch, but though he showed me and my friends the "natural Prague", which we as tourists wouldn't have discovered without him. Tank you! :)

Roy is a very committed host, nice and talkative. I suppose he could draw a map of Prague from memory and label all existing bars. :-)

Roy and I used to work together and we'd go out lots with our work friends. Roy's always been the life of the party and a source of laughter and fun. We had an informal "Acting Club" at Roy's house, and Roy's acting was especially funny. Our group of friends from work still email each other with reply-to-alls bouncing back and forth, even though we all went our separate ways about 4 years ago. NZ's not the same without you Roy! We should starting up the Acting Club again when/if you come back. Maybe I'll be settled down in NZ by then too :p

i arrived to roy's house with two other friends. we just enteret the flat and already he offered his service as tourist guide. so, we got to know some nice places like a beautiful parc and a tea-shisha-house. unfortunately he got ill, hope you are better now, roy! thank you for everything!

The nicest Kiwi in Praha, and possibly the only. He hosted, took us out to the beer gardens, got us included in an amazing river boat cruise ; rumour has it he's headed to Canada and we're all too lucky to have him.

roy was supposed to host us but unfortunately had to go to the hospital the day we wanted to come. so we stayed with a friend. next day we had a meeting he helped to organise and we had a long chat about the CS-project and we agree on a lot of issues. we also had a lot of e-mail contact before, which was fast and totally friendly and i know that he hosts a shitload of people. i wish you a lot of fun in canada! we will meet again, sometime someday!

He was a goof friend of my best friend ever but since I met him he became one of my friends too, he took us out first night at this lovely park (great sightseeing over Prague) and following days he told us which places we should go....so helpfull as a good host...welcome to Cancun anytime you want.

This guy sent me a welcome e-mail when I signed up on couch-surfing, and then organized an event where I got to meet a ton of people in Prague. He's friendly, talkative, and he likes tequila :)

it was only a short meeting, but very positive.. roy is typical type of traveler.. open/minded, friendly, his home is everywhere.. it would be a pleasure to meet you some time again in future.. really a worthy meeting.

Had a fine time getting Roy and his girlfriend addicted to Settlers of Catan. Decent and genuine folk.

Roy is a great, friendly guy.. I had good fun at twin city weekend events & even helped me connect with other CSers when passing thro prague... fully deserving of ambassador title!

i met roy CSing at christine's in vienna. he's the type of person that you instantly feel comfortable being around. he also makes a mean omelette even though he claims not to cook!

Roy is all about CS which is good as we have that in common. Unfortunately I didn't get to spend a lot of time with Roy as I was in Budapest most of the day he was here, but the chats we had were great. We singlehandedly solved all of the problems CS has ever had, but then forgot our solutions, ooops. Seeya soon.

 

Roy is a funny guy, ready to share experiences and really nice to chat about ideas for CS. Thanks for the breakfast and for not complaining about me snoring...! =P

 

Roy is easy-going and good to talk to. He was a considerate best guest and great fun to party with. He is also a fellow addict and definitely makes Couchsurfing a better place :) Me and Spyro wanted to keep him but he left so we hope to see him again sometime.

Met up with Roy in Vienna for the CS meeting there. However, he and I have communicated since I was still living in Australia. He's a nice guy who told me about some expat resources that have proven invaluable.

Surfing his couch was my couchsurfing defloration! I definitively enjoyed my stay with this funny, warm-hearted guy. He does a lot for the CS project. Keep at it!

 

Roy really gives a lot to the CS community and he does it person after person. He hosted us in the very busy Easter weekend, he took us to great parties and showed us around.
If Prague is a wonderful city, Prague surfing at Roy's place is even a better one!

I met Roy at a CS event in Prague. He was very enthusiastic about CS and has been helping me out and giving me tips on CS.

He was a really nice guy, and it was great how he got the party together.

thank you for taking me in! Roy gave me a couch to stay on with less than 24 hours in advance, and even took me bowling!

Me and mz friend tristan stayed with roy for a few nights while we were in prauge. Roy was a great host and was always willing to help us out by showing us a good place to drink. It was good to be able to talk to someone a bit closer to home but also cultural differences between the czech republic and estonia.

Roy is a great guy and a very valuable member of CS! Always up for a good time and a 'quiet drink' at the pub. i highly recomend that anyone should stay with or catch up with Roy

 

Roy is my first CS contact I got in Prague. I hope he will be a sort of guide in this city! :p He is open-minded and very friendly. I'm sure he has plenty of things to teach me. We went for some beers and a bowling evening. That was awesome! I can't wait to do more! We'll meet up again soon Roy! Take care.

Great weekend. Had a great time with Roy in the wilds of the the Dublin nightlife. Luckily he doesn't always dress in his 70's gear! Have to get to London soon to sample his own brand of mayhem.

Had a few drinks with Roy in a rock climbing bar with other couchsurfers. We talked about other CS'ers we have in common and about CS video reviews of cities, later finding out the idea had already been done!

 

The time with Roy and his friends was just too short but it was a pleasure to meet him. Another energetic, enthusiastic and dedicated CS member who is nevertheless aware of problems and improvements. Why he's able to get so many couchsurfer together becomes clear as soon as you meet him - so definitely try and meet him! :-) Thanks for everything Roy!

I am happy to know Roy and thankful for initiating Prague CS community when there was none. He is very dedicated CouchSurfer and I feel always cheerful in his company.
At the same time I am sad he left Prage for Toronto. Good thing is that he keeps coming back. I am looking forward for next cooperation. Free hugs, meetings, parties, beer drinking, tea tasting...always welcome pal!

Roy was great, sending a posting about a CS meeting in Prague which I wanted to attend and helping me out to get to the bar as well as introducing me to CSers in the bar.

 

Roy is a classy and fun guy. I was super glad to meet him and I hope I get another chance to later.

Roy was one of the participants of Warsaw wintercamp 06/07 - first I met him after ice-skating - Roy seemed very hungry, so he ate my straw-cookies with a real relish :D But nowadays I'm not more sure about anything in the world that if he would look so desperate once more I would give him all the cookies which I'll have with me that day :D Roy is very very nice, friendly and funny person, so I really hope to see him again!!

Roy is first of all a kind and earnest person - qualities that count a lot in my perception. I bumped into him just as he was coming into the registration point near Cafe Chlodna, partied together on New Years Eve and finally he invited me to the HC Prague Party on 8 Janaury 2007. I was unfortunately at that time already away from his adopted city. Not your typical Kiwi, he should be worth knowing!

Met in Prague and unfortunately didn't get to talk much together. But I thank him for arranging a very cool CouchSurfing meeting!

I met Roy at a CS meeting in Prague. He's a nice guy and seems very active in organizing CS get-togethers. It was the first CS "event" I have been to, and I had a great time and I'm looking forward to the next one.

i remember meeting in vasar pub in warsaw by the wintercamp registration point;) it was so simple, he just came up and started talking! Roy's got many interesting things to say and is also very witty. to write something more we have to meet again for some longer time (*but he is all around you, wherever you look there's Roy with his big smile and some funny remark ;) take care!

 

Well - Roy... what to say... I am happy I met him. Especially before the ice skating we had a great time of jokes and fun which I pretty enjoyed. All in all I spent not enough time with him to write really much... but yes, I think I have a good intuition and Roy really rocks!!!

Roy found me when I was in Prague and invited me to a CS get-together. He oozes friendliness, fun and warmth, and I really hope I get to hang out with him one day in the future!

Roy is very nice guy, i hosted him for one night during hc wintercamp and i can only say positive things about him :) i liked very much the fact that he didn't give up during "ice skating trip"!!!! it was really great :D
