Independent Traveler 38:7 Why: Because I do prefer travelling alone most of the time...
60s+ Travellers 394:1480 Why: Because I am over 60... and find it difficult sometimes to be hosted although younger people do not mind being hosted by older Surfers...
I Live on the western outskirts of town, about 45 min by bus and tram to the town center or 10 minutes by commuter train to the main railway station but a little more to walk from my home to the local station. I live alone in a small but cosy apartment with all comfort, a balcony, lift, air-conditioning... I can offer a couch in a separate room. I would prefer if the surfers bring their own sleeping bags (especially if it is just for 1 night or 2) but I shall gladly supply blankets and pillows if needed. I am an early bird which means that I like to go to bed rather early but as the bedroom is separate and my computer is there, my guests can talk or surf all night and sleep until late if they want.
As I am not working anymore I can host just about anytime... if I am at home and if I am not too busy with translations (sometimes I have many, with very strict deadlines) and grandchildren (during school holidays for instance), but please not much more than 3-4 days (there are always great exceptions: I already hosted men or over a week or people younger than 50 but ONLY after getting to know my guests). Just ask and I shall always answer, provided I am at home or near a computer to get my messages.
NO smoking, NO drinking, NO partying, NO pets. Do not expect meals from me as I am a very poor cook but my kitchen is here for YOU to cook... and please note that I have NO car!!
If you do not need accomodation and according to my free time, I can show you around town, give information about Zagreb, Croatia or former yugoslav republics.. Just tell me what you would need and I'll see what I can do.

I am French and married a Croatian man, then moved to Zagreb where I mostly lived afterwards; my 2 sons and 3 grandchildren were born in Zagreb so Croatia is my second homeland. But I feel more like a citizen of the world as I lived on 3 continents and travelled rather extensively....
How I Participate in CS
Just started with Couchsurfing in 2009 (not 2007) and hoping to meet as many fantastic people as I did these last years through Hospitality Club. I also try to give as much information as possible to all Surfers wanting to know more about Zagreb, Croatia or former yugoslav republics (sometimes without any feedback... which is not very nice!).
CouchSurfing Experience
New to Couchsurfing (much longer experience with Hospitality Club) and mainly hosted until now. I would very much like my hosts to keep in touch sometimes or give some feedback about what you recommended them to do or see. Unfortunately, it has rarely been the case until now. Hosts are NOT to be mistaken for free (youth) ho(s)tels and if you open your home and your heart to unknown guests, I think it's only fair to expect some further news or contacts after their visit...
Interests
I am a very straightforward and uncomplicated person. My biggest passion was mountain climbing and hiking but because of knee problems I unfortunately had to stop. So now I try to travel (often alone)as much as possible instead. I love reading, cinema, listening to music, visiting museums, translating...I used to hitch-hike a lot and I am still a passionate "youth" hosteller: nice to be "young" for something but I meet too few elder people in there now!
Philosophy
Be as nice to others as many have been to me and enjoy life when you still can! I have travelled and lived in many different countries and everywhere I met great people - especially many great women! The whole world is like a huge family with good members and not so good members sometimes. So, forget those you do not like or who do not like you and keep all the others in some safe corner of your memory and your heart...
Types of People I enjoy
Easy-going, unpretentious and communicative people, full of life and travel experience although not boasting about it!
Teach, Learn, Share
I am not sure I can teach anything to anyone ...
One Amazing Thing I've Seen or Done
Leaving my family, my Paris and my home country for a totally unknown country speaking a totally uncomprehensible language (although I had learnt 5 others), a country at that time "behind the iron curtain", all this for a man I hardly knew but with whom I fell in love at first sight!
Opinion on the CouchSurfing.org Project
No comments yet as this is my first season with CS.
This summary is not a replacement for reading references; it's a quick summary to help you get started. At a glance, you can see how many references a member has, and how many of them are positive, neutral, and negative.
In the second line, you'll see how many references came from people who hosted this member, surfed with them, and traveled with them. These numbers won't always add up to the total: some references are not categorized, and some may be categorized as more than one thing.
When viewing this summary, don't jump to conclusions! Things that are negative for one person may be positive for another, and vice versa. It's important to read references carefully and evaluate what that information means to you.
Annie is an adventurous, funny and cheerful personality with lots, lots of courage I really appreciate! I enjoyed each evening when she shared with me her eperiences in life, knowledge about historical events and fascinating stories about coincidences in life one would never dream about while having a simple but perfect dinner together. I am thankful having learnt so much from her and I am sure we will meet again! Thanks for all Annie! :)
There are no words to describe Annie! She is amazing! She gave us plenty of information on the city and the surroundings. In the evening she surprised us with Croatian delicacies such as sarma. We had great conversations on travel, history, cuisine, we learned a lot about ex-yugoslav countries and places worth visiting. She really made are weekend in Zagreb a faboulous one. Will definitely go back! See you soon Annie :-)
Such a sweet lady! Very hospitable and great company. She has lots of insight to provide about future travels you may have, as well as great stories from her previous travels and experiences. I hope we are able to meet back up when she comes back to the states!
I loved Aniie!!! Please adopt me!!!! I had the best time in Croatia and loved spending time with Annie and hearing her stories. She is a great couch host, very generous with her time and her house and she is a great chef. I have learned alot from her and really thankful that we got a chance to meet. Sorry it has taken me sooo long to get this up I just figured out how to do it!!! Make sure you get to Aus for Christmas one year and you can stay and celebrate with me.
We met Annie in Zagreb at the beginning of our trip in Croatia. We surfed one night by Annie and it was really nice! She's cooked (very well) for us and told us a lot about her adoption's country, about history and people! very interesting! We planed the follow of our trip together, she gave us a lot of good addresses and tricks. It will be a pleasure to see you again, in France (in Bourg-en-Bresse?), in Germany or in Croatia!
Annie is a great person. I sent her a message to ask for some information before my trip to Zagreb and it ended up in exchanging a lot of messages. She is a helpful and nice person. It's a shame that we couldn't make it to meet in Zagreb. I believe we will meet someday and get to know each other in person though. Can't wait to see you Annie!

Positive
Annie waited for me at the Bus Station and we spent a wonderful day together, having lunch, walking around Zagreb and exchange personal histories and she "took" to my host Gordana. Despite she didn't host me, I am sure she is the perfect welcoming CS. I hope you'll come to Buenos Aires soon to be my guest.

Positive
Annie likes talking, smiling, she is very understanding person, very active and kind. We spent a short time together but we will stay in touch. And Annie, you will see me at Zagreb.
Woman of great experience in life, very talkative and with whom everyone can talk about anything!!! It was really nice to host her, even if we met just on evening for dinner. So why not to have a holiday together in Iceland??? But first I need of some big relax moments at the thermes or spa in Croazia... Lucky say you a big "miaouuuu you" :-)
