I have a one bedroom/livingroom flat
I'm open minded and like to meet up with open minded people.
Apart from the details in my profile I just want to let you know that I highly appreciate short personal messages that let me know why you would like to stay with me (what you find interesting on my profile). And I also like to cook and taste what you cook normally... There is also a nice gay restaurant with great food on the underground line that I'm on...

I like to cook together with my guests and show them my city. I live close to the center and good public transport around the corner. Let me know why you want to stay with me.

I did part of the community building of CS and inspired parts of the website. However after more than five years of Ambassadorship (Global Amb from the time the system was introduced). Also initiated and Co-Moderated the European CS Collective in Eisenstadt where everyone was welcome to contribute. (Only Collective that did not cost a cent for CS)
CouchSurfing Experience
www.servas.org is great! Most hosts are 40 or older but very young at heart people! They also have some rules (minimum and maximum two nights - except the host offers more) you have to go for an interview - for security but lots of hosts in OZ and NZ. You are part of the family for two nights...
Couchsurfed Germany, Sweden, USA and had lots of guests from all over the world - even Bangladesh :-)
www.hospitalityclub.org is good as well - same idea as servas but has more younger people and easier to become a member of. No "two nights" - rule...
www.globalfreeloade rs.com the idea is free accommodation but also here people are interested in the traveller and like to share ideas and views.
Fellow motorcyclists who I met on my travels in NZ e.g. www.kiwibiker.co.nz. Very nice and hospitable people.
People who gave me a lift while hitch hiking. Also very hospitable people.
(Hosted 109 People till Feb 17th 2008 for a average of three nights)
Interests
Travelling, meeting new people, discussions, cooking, electronics, motorcycle, space technology -- was part of my thesis...
Philosophy
In a time where people blow up themself cause of their desperation peace networks are more important than ever before. We have to support the intercultural understanding to strengthen the world peace.
I think our western society focuses too much on success and too little on people and their personal needs.

One Amazing Thing I've Seen or Done
The community feeling within CS and the enormous efforts that came out of the community to rebuild their network right after the crash...
Driving to europride with the car from Vienna. The live music event at the gay parade in Vienna 2008 where heavy rain and lightning added a great spirit to the event.
The Namib desert, Victoria Falls, Australia hitch hiking and New Zealand by motorcycle as well as bicycle tours and the two weeks work in China.

New update I have to write...
I think CS would be given to the members and not to become a service that a user could use...
I had the vision to have a members network steered by members and developed and supported by members only.
I also think it si important to de- centralize and that includes local groups for Arab, African, South American and Asian countries - the only way to make a global intercultural network.
Opinion before end of 2006:
Couchsurfing became part of my life(style) and the direction CS is taking is one I can support fully. I am member of lots of other organizations but the openness of CS is the thing that made me putting most energy to Couchsurfing. During the crash one could see how strong the community already is and how people stood together in the hard time.
I love CS and the open people that I met through this great network.
HUGS, Marcus
This summary is not a replacement for reading references; it's a quick summary to help you get started. At a glance, you can see how many references a member has, and how many of them are positive, neutral, and negative.
In the second line, you'll see how many references came from people who hosted this member, surfed with them, and traveled with them. These numbers won't always add up to the total: some references are not categorized, and some may be categorized as more than one thing.
When viewing this summary, don't jump to conclusions! Things that are negative for one person may be positive for another, and vice versa. It's important to read references carefully and evaluate what that information means to you.
Marcus surfed my couch when he was in town for the Hannover Messe. Although he was busy on the fair we had a fun time in the evenings, we had dinner together and great chats about travelling and CS. He is a great guy, you should definately host him. And many thanks for introducing me to African Food! :)
He stayed with me for one night and we went out to an extremely good restaurant. I had a grand time, there were lots of laughter and quite a few good stories!
Look @ his profile: there is noone who has a bad thing to say about him and neither do I =)
He is welcome to stay at my place any time!
Me and my girlfriend stayed three nights at his place. Staying at his place was very comfortable, he showed us the city, and led us to the most amazing restaurants :-). We had a lot of fun.

We spent with Marcus only short time but I think that he is friendly, clever guy and good host. Thanks for interesting discussion and thanks for my first CS experience - it was positive experience.
Marcus is a wonderful person and a great host! The two nights were awesome. We had great dinners, provocative conversations, nice movies, but maybe the most remarkable thing was an unforgettable company. Thanks!
Hi hosted Marcus and his friend Stefan and it was so much fun. Right the first evening when we spent an hour or two talking about his interest in collecting toilet paper and thinking about related business ideas :D Unfortunately it turned out that this interest was only theoretical... :( Nevertheless they brought me some toilet paper - the first CSers to do this small wish I listed in my profile :) See you in Vienna Marcus :)
I stayed with Marcus for four nights, and he was a kind and generous host. He gave me many helpful suggestions about what to see in Vienna, and cooked wienerschnitzel for me. Definitely a positive experience!

Marcus is very welcoming, open-minded and warm-hearted guy. But - DON´T WANT HIM TOO SHOW YOU HIS VERSION OF GOLLUM - it is so scary!! :-D Rather make him perform an italian guy going to Malta, you won´t regret! :-)
Marcus guided us through Vienna and overall it was a very pleasant experience.
Thank you Marcus, Ivca+Jirka
We met since several years at different meetings in Vienna and I write the reference what should have been done long time ago!
Marcus is easygoing, a warm hearted friend who has spontanous great ideas and who cooks the best "Kaiserschmarrn" I know!
Good luck for the renovation of your flat!
