Due to the nature of the recent request I got please read through the two Couchsurfing wikipages
How to write a couch request.
and
Searching and requesting a couch.
before contacting me.
If you are new to the system and do not know how to write a CS request here are a few tips of my own, which might be covered by the wikipages but which I find most important:
It is very important in assuring a place to stay that you make the potential host feel that you are not a
freeloader who is just trying to not pay a hostel.
Read the profile and write your request accordingly.
Mine for example says that I do not consider requests made via normal message but only via the Couchsearch function - these are hints that show a host if you are interested in him/her and made at least the effort to read the profile.
Give your host a reason to host you.
Make yourself interesting by writing an interesting request.
And remember to not only contact the first few people that come up when you do the couchsearch - they are the ones that get all the requests. So If I have to decline your request you might be more lucky if you contact the ones that show up on the second or third page.
Note! I will not reply to Couchsurf request via a normal message! Use the " Couchsurf with" button if it doesn't show on my profile, that means I can't host. Friends (71)

He made a delicious chicken soup with fresh herbs from his own garden and a lemon pie from his own tree that was the best pie I ever ate in my life. He introduced me to his sister Eileen and her husband Skip and his friend Toni. He took us all on a most memorable trip to Mount Lemmon where he literally drove the extra mile in the rain and lightning to take me to the summit. We sat in his beautiful backyard with his dog Talli among his lemon trees and herb garden, visiting and enjoying a lovely view of the mountains and the desert. I hope I have made a friend for life with Bruce. He fixed my computer and taught me lots of search engine tricks. He also taught me some things about photography on how to take a great picture. The opportunity to make a cross-country roadtrip in a car powered by vegetable oil presented itself, so my friend and I put the call out for hosts in the various cities we would be visiting and Bruce responded whole-heartedly. He went above and beyond the call of duty, going so far as to guide us in when we got lost on the highway and then staying up way later than he should have to chat with us and to help make sure we were well accommodated.
