Benjamin Yu

Ben is great! He was ready to help us with looking for place to sleep in SF, when all our possibilities of accomodation crushed. We had two delicious dinners together while we were traveling USA with my friend Igor. Wish you great days, Ben!

 

When I got a reference for Ben from my friend Ondrej I had no idea how cool he is. First time we met in Los Angeles in Irish pub, I found out we have a lot of things in common, Ben invited me and my friends for a dinner and he did same thing when we met in San Francisco two weeks later. He also helped us very much with looking for a hostel or any cheap place where we could sleep in San Francisco. I really appreciate his friendly help and I'm looking forward to meet him again and do at least some part of that for him what he did for us. And it's sure thing next dinner has to be my turn.

 

Ben is a cool cat, and never fails to make me laugh! We love Ben at Google, because he is my skinny-wristed Chinese brother.

 

Ben is a really cool, easy going guy. Great conversations & always fun to talk to. A person you like being around.

Ben is the kind hearted person, very discrete, high potential and willing to put its strength and knowledge to help couchsurfing getting better. He is been a true soul at the collective in austria and since he came back to his normal life, it seems he produced couple of interesting software that i still might have to try out soon enough!! Arf the man sold his soul to google... but i was so happy to see him crossing the ocean just to attend the paella party.. thats dedication ben!!

 

A Couchsurfer who is most definitely looking for adventures! I have talked with Ben a few times via phone. Sounds like a good guy with the right attitude about couch surfing. He's about to begin an important life journey and he is looking to have as many couchsurfing adventures as he can while he's in Europe. If you can, definitely meet him, swap some stories and really show him around your hometown. I can't wait to hear about his adventures! UPDATE: We have now met in person at the Austria Collective in 2006 and then again the following summer. Wonderful to see you again Ben!

 

I really enjoyed the time we spent together at Vince's paella party and it was a bonus to share the train trip back to Zurich together! Ben, you are most certainly one of the nice guys around - I thoroughly appreciated your calm manner, how you would always make me feel welcome when I came over to a group that you were in and the friendly chats over the weekend. I'll definitely be looking forward to the next time we meet :-)

 

I first met Ben in Paris, but I really learned to know him in Austria, at the CS collective, and this guy is just amazing ! He's got the most incredible energy and dedication to his task and to CS, and he is quite talented ! And the most incredible : even after a night spent on a computer, he's ready to party and have fun ! That's my Ben :)
Update : Just spend a week with Ben in LA. Woouah, he expressed so much kindness and just took me everywhere even as he was overwhelmed by work. Many many thanks to you Ben and all your family !

 

He's such a funny guy, nearly pissed in the pants from his jokes, his sense of humour and the dry way he's making the jokes-- incredible. When I wasn't laughing he seemed to me being a real honest and open-minded guy.

Ben is a open minded, funny and entertaining guy. I've met him at Vince's Paella and hosted in Zürich. He embodies fully the couch surfing spirit. It was a pleasure to host him.

Ben is an very warm, intelligent and engaging individual. I met him briefly at the CS Paella and got to know him better when we surfed Martin's couch the night after the Paella.

 

I first met Ben in a restaurant on a hill overlooking Vienna. From the moment I saw this guy I knew I had found an interesting and intelligent conversation partner. At the Collective we had a blast and after his hopping all over Europe he surfed my couch to relax and come back to earth again. He must have liked my couch - after going to Italy for a while he came back and stayed another week :-) A year later he joined the CouchSurfing Paella 2007 and it was fantastic to see him again!

 

I cannot believe it's only 1 year I know Ben 'cause actually it feels like I know him from a lifetime!
He's a polite and friendly guy that is really good at listening others, but try and involve him in a conversation and you'll discover how smart and ironic he is. If you need help to clean up a mess, or just to party he's always there.
Ben I'm so sorry I couldn't say bye before you left Switzerland - I think we'll meet again soon, in Italy, California or somewhere else.

Byu is a very smart and sympathetic guy who has a kinda positive energy he is spreading around him. Very nice meeting and I hope that he will surf my couch next time he comes to Europe.

Ben is a genuine great guy. I rememebr him as being always smiling and having a nice word with everybody. Also he has an amazing feature that I love to find in people. He is passionate, pure hearted and open. Those that when you see the way they smile, it warms your heart.

at the collective ben was always busy - either organizing and leading workshops or working on his documentary of his trip - so that i could't get to know him that well... back in vienna we spent some time together, when he saved my ass and my computer several times one afternoon... he even helped me buying and installing a new hard disk drive so that i could copy all his tape from the collective - and would also allow me to borrow his camcorder for more than a day to do so... so thank you very very very much for that! besides, it is really fun to talk to ben because he has many great storys to tell and very reasoned opinions on so many things - plus he usually knows a whole lot of gossip :)

Ben helped out at the CSC in Eisenstadt by running an open forum, and sharing his moderation skills with the group. He even stepped up and helped out with our blog wiki, and video. I'm sure he will take another opportunity to help out CS again.

 

Whether discussing, running a meeting, or drinkin some brew-ha, Ben was always good to be around. Had some wild fun together on the streets of Vienna (or so the pictures have led me to believe.) Ben is the kinda guy I could trust to watch my house, and then get him wasted when I get back. Or maybe I just like him because he is light enough to pick up.

Ben is contagious, I hope. His dedication to couchsurfing is remarkable. His enthusiasm rubs off when you are around. I know he rubbed off on me. Ben, glad to have gotten to know you a little at the collective. You are truly an inspiration.

Ben is a Couchsurfing god and can hold a good conversation for hours. He's seen much of the world's highlights and lives for travel!

 

Ben and I traveled together in Tokyo Japan. We have been good friends for a long time, and it was a blast seeing the city together. Lots of drunkeness and lessons were learned, including never to tell the hottie waitress to surprise me with a new drink!!

 

I had a great time with Ben. He managed to coordinate the workshops at the collective in the best way possible and he has good views on CS and life in general. Respect for this whizzkid!

Ben was the organizer for a recent CS gathering. He's friendly and helpful. I hope we hang out again soon to get better acquainted.

I have a very good feeling about Ben.I felt happy he was at the Cs Austria. Good vibes, he cares and is kind, he involves himself completely and takes initiatives, knows alot , offcourse also passionnate about travelling , and hes connected to the net :-) ... maybe a perfect post(-modern) nomad? :-)

I met Ben at the afterparty at Hermann's bar, with his camera, filming me and interviewing me on my first couchsurfing experience :-)

First time we met was on the CS collective in Austria (2006), later we hitchhiked around a bit (three guys total!), and had a really good time :-) I really appreciate his sunny outlook, even when stuck in the middle of nowhere he kept enjoying the experience.... Good times!

 

Ben is a great guy. I enjoyed every minute,collective meetings, surfing, TV watching, reading, eating high dollar chinese food in Switzerland - it was all great. I should not forget to mention he, and 2 other couchsurfers sang to me as my trained pulled away. It was my favorite part of the trip...........

Ben was a very nice and friendly guest, and he was even interested in learning easy recipes (we brought the results to the Danube Island meeting afterwards). However, for the Collective in Eisenstadt he was not only a great help but took a major part to make the whole thing possible.

 

What the others didn't say?
Computer maniac! He took care of internet pages in CSC, often stayed "online" till late morning. And he travelled through Europpe with camera, hand camera and about 200GB of free space.
But he is one of people you can trust. Smart, helpful, reliable, sportsman and football player, really good friend. You are always wellcome in my place.

Was great to get a chance to meet Ben at the collective. Great guy to hang out with, drink with, bullshit with, and in general just have a good time. Definitely trust him and look forward to seeing him again soon!

Ben is Big, I like his enthusiasm about CS, even the food in my BBQ was hot and ready he was glued to lapton with CS website on it.

Ben is a kind of person that you should definitely meet. He is open-mined and easy-going. My friends and I spent good time with him talking about everyting and drinking scotch whiskey - even on the street in the centre of Krakow:)

 

With Ben I got in touch instantly and all along the next days was a great mate. He was such a pro organizer during the meetings but every night plenty of fun, talkin' about the "Quarter game", planning what to do with his footage from the Collective and of course great times in Vienna drinking again :) Now he's coming back to Venice and will be a blast. Also he's from Anaheim, where I'll be back for the NAMM show next year! Something else to say more?!?

 

whenever you meet ben, you will find a helpful hand. he has always his camera thereby and did me a huge favour with collecting all the photos of the CSC on the website! very powerful guy with a great sense of humor! thumbs up for my great "photohunter"!

 

Ben is this is kind of person that I would be able to spend a long time either talking and working or drinking and thinking... Well the final point is that he is one of the VERY few people that I would absolutely trust to see them taking leadership while I am following! Keep in touch man!

 

This guy strikes me with awe. Seems that besides his amazing talent, his true secret is a wholehearted dedication to whatever he does. Have you seen him stirring the 3 litres of chocolate pudding for half an eternity to gently cool it down? Did he fix your computer like mine with flying fingers withinin the twinkling of an eye? How did he manage at the same time to do all the other background work he did at the Collective and still not only to be seen among the living, but even with a contagious smile and an attitude of kind awareness? Does this descripton sound odd? Sorry, dear reader, I can't belittle my admiration. Ben, how about cloning you? The world needs more of your kind.

After several changes to his itinerary, followed by THE CRASH, it looked like I wasn't going to get to host Ben after all ... and then he e-mailed again to say that Munich was back on the agenda -- YAY!! Although I was supposed to be locked in my office, we went out a couple of times and talked about all sorts of things ... even geeky computer stuff! I'm so glad he shared. : ) He is a veritable fount of knowledge and fun stories (some of which he also shares on his blog -- check it out!). Do take him in, you'll be glad you did!

my first cs meeting in paris, at politburo bar, and as soon as i get in a guy offers me and all the other girls a rose. this is benjamin and that's why you can't just ignore him! i hope i'll see you soon kid!

Ben was very cool, we did a lot of stuff together, beach, barbecue, etc...I would host him again with pleasure!

 

I had a great time in Paris with Ben. Had the pleasure to teach him how to order a hot dog in 10 seconds. Not sure he remembers though, but fingers crossed.
We surfed the same host for a few days and had each other to visit the city with. I remember a fun time on the subway :)

I met Ben when he was CS in Slovenia. Unfortunally he was here during my exam period so I didn't have a chance to get to know him well but from what I've seen in that hour or two he's a really great guy.

I would trust him with anything! I would honestly trust Ben with anything. I know that my chicken, my laptop and my life are all safe in his hands. He's an incredibly honest and forthright person. If he wants to surf with you, just know you'll be making a good buddy for life. So host him, guys! :)

Ben is very intelligent and we had a wonderful conversation, i learned a lot! he is also a friendly, polite, generous and trustable person. he sincerely cares about people and the world. hope to meet Ben again.

If I had a daughter... I would totally send her off to marry this dude. Though I met him just once, it was a time well-spent. He's got a quality sense of self-being and knows his shiznit real well. Europe, watch out for Mr. Yu, because YOU could have the time of your life with Yu! :)

Edit: He and Jess just gave me a call from Jess's place just a couple of minutes after I wrote this reference for him (what a coincidence)! Anyhow, he is a very convincing person - you should buy all that he says for he speaks the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Much respect to you brother, peace out.
